Согласно одной из легенд, у одного могущественного хана была прекрасная дочь по имени Монара, которую он сильно любил и оберегал. Однажды он созвал всех звездочётов и ясновидящих со всей местности и приказал предсказать будущее девушки. Все они, кроме одного, предсказали девушке счастливую жизнь. Этот же аксакал заявил: «Я могу сказать вам только правду, хотя вы можете и казнить меня за это. Судьба вашей дочери печальна. Едва она доживёт до своего 16-тилетия, как чёрный паук укусит ее, и она тотчас же умрёт».

Хан пришёл в ярость, но он не мог не обратить на это предсказание внимание. Поэтому он построил высокую башню и заточил этого звездочёта в небольшой комнате внизу башни, а свою дочь поместил в другой комнате наверху башни в полном одиночестве.

Дочь росла в башне, любуясь долинами через четыре окна в куполе, которые выходили на все стороны света – север, юг, восток и запад. Слуги приносили её еду и воду в корзине с едой, забираясь по лестнице, приставленной с внешней стороны башни. Их обыскивали с головы до ног, чтобы убедиться, что ни в одежде, ни в пище или посуде не спрятался паук.

И, наконец, наступил день её 16-тилетия, хан был очень рад, что предсказания старика не сбылись. Ему захотелось поздравить её в такой «знаменательный день», и он вошёл в её комнату с гроздями винограда. Поздравляя её и целуя, он вручил ей фрукты, она взяла их и вдруг неожиданно упала и умерла. Ошеломленный хан осмотрел свой подарок … и обнаружил там чёрного паука.

Хан, охваченный горем, так громко рыдал, что башня затряслась, и её верх свалился, оставив от себя развалины, которые мы и видим сейчас.

The Burana Tower is located 10 km south of Tokmak. It is believed that the tower was part of the minaret, and was previously higher than at present time ... Kyrgyz people have several versions concerning to the origin of the name of this tower.
According to one of the legends, one powerful Khan had a beautiful daughter named Monara, and he greatly loved and protected her. Khan was furious, but he could not help to pay attention to this prediction. Therefore, he built a high tower and sharpened this stargazer in a small room at the bottom of the tower, and placed his daughter in another room at the top of the tower all alone.
The daughter grew up in the tower, admiring the valleys through the four windows in the dome, which went out to all directions of the world - north, south, east and west. The servants brought her food and water in the food basket, climbing the ladder from outside the tower. They were searched from head to toe to make sure that no spider hid in any clothes, food or dishes.
And finally, the day of her 16th birthday came, Khan was very happy that the old man's predictions did not come true. He wanted to congratulate her on such a “momentous day”, and he entered her room with bunches of grapes. Congratulating and kissing her, he handed her the fruit, she took them and suddenly fell and died. The stunned Khan examined his gift ... and found a black spider there.
Khan, overwhelmed with grief, sobbed so loudly that the tower shook, and its top collapsed, leaving behind the ruins, which we now can see.
