Yesterday, Nairobi Coffee Exchange CEO, Madam Lisper Ndungú , took the conversation on specialty coffee to the Presidential Town Hall at the 2026 National Agriculture and Food Systems Transformation Summit.

She highlighted the need for a world class, ISO certified coffee quality analysis laboratory and a digital auction platform to help Kenyan specialty coffee, particularly microlots, access premium markets locally and internationally.

In response, His Excellency President William Ruto committed to a six month timeline for establishing the laboratory, emphasising the need to support farmers and increase the value of Kenyan coffee.

The goal is clear: to ensure that Kenya’s finest coffee gets the recognition, market access and value it deserves.

What better way to celebrate International Coffee Day than with Hon. FCPA Dr. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, EGH, Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development, who visited the Nairobi Coffee Exchange booth at the Nairobi International Trade Fair 2026.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the role of the Exchange in facilitating coffee trade and connecting producers, cooperatives, traders, buyers and markets.

We were also delighted to engage with visitors throughout the day, sharing insights about the Exchange, answering questions and connecting with coffee enthusiasts and stakeholders.

This International Coffee Day, we celebrate the people and connections that make coffee part of the solution.
