Notice of the End of Winter Season Operations
As of March 22, 2026, Cedar Coffee will conclude its winter season operations.
With that, I will also be graduating from my role as the “person inside the coffee cart” — in other words, as a staff member. It has been an incredible two years, and I am truly grateful.
When I compare today to about 10 years ago, when I first came to Niseko as a seasonal worker, the town has become increasingly international. Along with its growing diversity, I have also witnessed significant changes in safety, environment, and community dynamics. As development progresses, so do the questions and challenges that come with it.
Hokkaido is often called “the land that tests you,” and living here year-round has taught me firsthand the harshness, risks, and inconveniences of a snowy region. There were many trials and difficulties, but being surrounded by breathtaking nature, clean air, and enjoying delicious water and food has been one of life’s greatest luxuries.
Though Cedar Coffee is a small coffee cart, during peak season we sometimes served dozens of cups a day. Through interactions with tourists, locals, and fellow staff members, I always aimed to provide service that felt human and warm — never mechanical.
To those who came back multiple times during your stay saying, “It was so good, I had to come again,” to those who left heartfelt reviews, to those who quietly left tips, and to those who shared laughter over small conversations — I was truly blessed with kind and wonderful customers. Your presence meant more than you know.
Moving forward, I will be working overseas as a barista. I genuinely loved my work here and found it deeply fulfilling, but it is time for my next turning point. I will carry the knowledge and experiences I gained in this village with me, while also letting go of fixed ideas and embracing growth in a new environment.
Thank you.
All is well,
愛
