EITS Fundraiser at Wickie Wackie Beach was truly something special.
So much gratitude to everyone who came out and shared in the energy, creativity and love. My Sistas, you were amazing-from the stone painting with Keida and One Word activity—both of which will live on as an art installation at EITS—to the music loop vibes with Beebs and the grounding sound healing with Olivia under the moonlight- it was pure magic. Thanks for the musical energy- always such a good vibes!
Taking EITS from the mountains to the beach, even just for a day, felt incredibly special. Wickie Wackie, with the sea in the background and that beautiful breeze, created something we won’t forget. Thanks for keeping us hydrated in the right way!
This felt like the beginning “EITS at the Beach” coming to life.
Stay tuned…we’re creating something special.

We are almost there and need your help to re-open in the coming weeks. Every little bit counts! GoFund link in bio!

Rebuilding a space like EITS Café is not just about fixing what was damaged… it’s about strengthening the foundation it stands on.
There’s something about rebuilding that humbles you…and strengthens you at the same time.
As we move closer to reopening, I wanted to share a little more of what’s been happening behind the scenes.
This space has always been built on love, legacy and intention—and that foundation continues to guide every step forward.

Updates:
• We’ve safely rewired the café and surrounding upstairs areas including electrical infrastructure and relocating the meter box and rebuilding the meter pole (done in phases- guest rooms next)
• Gutterings on buildings have been installed to protect the space moving forward
• The kitchen has been redesigned for improved flow and efficiency with new flooring completed and countertops on the way—kindly donated by the Exotic Stone family
• Replaced kitchen appliances that were damaged with new and improved ones to help staff with efficiency & speed
• Major Landscaping to restore the natural beauty
• Wooden furniture has been restored—sanded and varnished back to life
• Bathroom walkway rebuilt & building reinforced
• New art installations have been added, including pieces by Makeida Beckford and myself

At the same time, there is still work ahead. Most importantly to get us to opening include:
• Rebuilding garbage house
• Clearing culbut along the roadside to help with ease of water flow and prevent future flooding
• Replacing wire from meter pole to necessary electrical connections which is a very expensive wire as well as labour to get this done
• Due to land slippage, we lost part of the walkway to the farm, which needs to be rebuilt. For those who know EITS, you know how important our farm-to-table connection is—having full access to a thriving farm is essential to everything we do
• Final Power Washing & Deep cleaning before opening date

We are in the final phase, but not quite finished.
Every message, every share, every bit of support truly carries us forward.
We’re almost ready. We miss you — soon come!

Step by step, we’re building back…
The kitchen roof has been raised and we’re now levelling the kitchen floor to prevent future flooding. The deck roof is almost complete with all uprights below deck reinforced and additional supports added.
The bar exterior roof is complete and the bar cart deck floorboards and uprights have also been reinforced.
We continue to work on restoring constant water supply.
Financially, our biggest challenges remain the rewiring and electrical work, along with structural and land reinforcement and replacing kitchen appliances damaged in the storm — among much more.
We’re deeply grateful for the love and support we’ve received. This time has also allowed space to rest, enjoy the mountain views and prepare for our reopening — with a refreshed look, new menu and team meetings to reopen strong.
Every donation helps us move forward.
Thank you for standing with us 🤍

Help Rebuild EITS Café

Hurricane Melissa hit hard our beloved 17 Mile Post- home of EITS Café, Food Basket Farm and Mount Edge Guest House, damaging this special gem in the Blue Mountains.

17 Mile Post has always been a place to enjoy good food, nature, music, vibes and community. We need your help to bring it back to life.

Finalizing details for the GoFund Page however in the interim you can send a DM if you’d like our local bank details.
Donations will go directly towards helping to rebuild the space, supporting our team and restoring this special mountain destination.

* Structural & Soil Engineers to assess land and existing building safety
* Reinforcement of all existing structures for future stability
* Replacement of the deck roof (completely destroyed) and strengthening of the deck & bar cart area
* Replacement of all pipes and water systems from the catchment to the property — everything was lost
* Electrical rewiring for the entire property, including two light posts
* Rebuilding retaining walls to prevent erosion and further land slippage
* Supporting our staff with temporary salaries, food and household supplies while operations are paused
* Farm cleanup and replanting after losing all plastic houses and crops
* Repairing the river pathway, which suffered major breakaways
* Rebuilding the bathroom walkway
* Repairing one of our guest cottages, which lost some of its roof and glass windows
* Reconstructing the packaging house and storage shed and replacing lost tools and plumbing materials

Exciting News! EITS Café’s “Music in the Mountains” got a feature in today’s Jamaica Observer Page 2 A heartfelt celebration of my father’s legacy, our love for music and the beautiful community that continues to grow around it.

“EITS Café launched “Music in the Mountains” — A Celebration of Legacy, Food and Live Acoustic Roots.”

The first “Music In The Mountains” was truly special — celebrating my father’s birthday, October 4, surrounded by good food, good music and good vibes…just how he would’ve loved it.

Luciano & Mikey General gave a powerful, heartfelt performance, joined by Alphonso Craig, Kevin Campbell, Errol Graham on percussion — all longtime friends from the Xterminator days.
My father and Fatis were my introduction to the musical world- loved it from ever since and music is deep in my heart and soul.
, Kareem Remus Burrell & his DJ .supreme kept the vibes flowing between sets with classic Xterminator tunes, closing the evening with some new hits.
The musical scene was also blessed with inclusions like Lila Iké, Joe Bogdanovich, Gabre Selassie, Abishai from the Bebblerock family, Carleene Samuels and Anna k “Miss T” to name a few.
Guests enjoyed a mix of savoury & sweet tapas — started off with Pumpkin & Ginger Bisque, followed by Tomato Basil bammy bruschetta, samosas- Ackee and Curry Goat, Saltfish fritters to Plantain tarts, tamarind balls, coconut drops & our famous Rum Fire Ice Cream Rum Cake.
Thank you to Catherine’s Peak for keeping everyone hydrated and Select Brands for the Cavicchioli Prosecco & Wines
A perfect night in the Blue Mountains — full of love, legacy & music

“The Journey Continues= Rolling Fresh: New Car, New Sign, Same EITS”

Getting ready to open EITS Café a few years ago and Dad said to me- “Robs, we’re going to paint the logo on the side of an antique car and that will be our signage.”….Me: “Ok Daddy, love that idea.”
Car arrives…Best Signage Ever- Fun photo spot, enjoyed by many….

Over years, weather and wear and tear time called for a “New Ride”
Daddy I’ll always try my best to keep the same vibes, just as you wanted, just what created EITS and what we have today.

We’ve got a new car to replace our iconic signage car- So Fresh & So Clean.

See you soon for great food, mountain vibes, and don’t forget to grab a photo with our fresh wheels.
The road goes on, and we’re so glad you’re on the journey with us. 💛

“Thank you for riding with us all these years—here’s to more journeys ahead.”

Back this weekend: our famous EITS Café Crab Cakes!
Sister Lou — a true gem my father discovered years ago. She has the best crab meat on the island, carefully cleaned and packaged into smaller portions just for us.
It’s a long 4-hour drive, but always worth it for the quality and care she puts into her work. This special relationship is at the heart of what we do here at EITS Café — honoring those who help us bring fresh, local flavors to your plate.
We’ll be pairing Sister Lou’s fresh crab with a cucumber round and our delicious green goddess dressing — a combination that’s always a hit.
After a slow crab season, I’m so excited to share these with you again…
Come taste the love, the legacy, and the journey behind every bite.
PS-I also got some fabulous light fixtures

Over the last 10 years, I’ve been blessed to share a beautiful journey with Wafa from Burgundy Roots. Each time she brings her retreat groups to Jamaica, we create something truly special together — a private space, 4-course dining experience including Halal chicken for her guests and an atmosphere that celebrates culture, connection and life.
What makes it even more meaningful is the friendship and trust that has grown between us. Wafa has genuinely believed in me, my dream, and my vision — uplifting and encouraging me along the way.

This collaboration is more than just food and gatherings — it’s about what we can bring together to give back to the world: good vibes, blessings, and shared experiences that last a lifetime.
Forever grateful for you, Wafa, and the Burgundy Roots family. Here’s to many more years of culture, food and friendship.
