Being perched in the Lepini Mountains, Artena is a cascade of roofs and houses built overhanging the rock. In the historic center, inaccessible to motor vehicles, narrow alleys and stone ramps wind past large wooden gates.

We are in the largest pedestrian area in Europe, in the heart of an ancient village where cars are prohibited and the summit can be reached by traversing the stone alleys strictly on foot or by mule.

The Colosseum/Imperial Forums Museum station on the new section of the Metro Line C hosts a museum, sponsored by the Colosseum Archaeological Park, which retraces 2,000 years of history, from the Rome of the Kings to Imperial Rome. This extraordinary exhibit has revealed 28 wells from the Republican era, the baths of a domus dating from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD, and a domus with frescoes from the Imperial era. An oculus in the passageway connecting Lines B and C also offers an unusual and evocative view of the Flavian Amphitheater from below
