Filter coffee is one of the most popular brewing methods in the world… yet in Italy it is still often misunderstood.
Why? 🤔Because in Italy, coffee is much more than a drink: it is identity, culture, and ritual. It is intense, fast, and immediate. Around the world, filter coffee represents a different way of experiencing coffee: slower, more analytical, and more transparent. It is not a “lighter version” of espresso, but a completely different expression of the same bean.
Today, however, something is changing.
The growing popularity of brewing methods such as V60, Chemex, and Aeropress is introducing a new way of understanding coffee in Italy: more conscious, more curious, and more open to exploration.
Espresso and filter coffee are not competitors. They are two different ways of telling the story of the same coffee.
And truly understanding coffee means learning to appreciate both.
