Friday 16th October , Curva Pura is pleased to present “ A Certain Closeness “ , the first solo exhibition in Rome by Chinese artist Jilan Wu (Guizhou, 1990), curated by Andrea Romagnoli.

The exhibition brings together a selection of recent works through which Wu explores the most intimate dimension of human experience: our relationship with others, closeness, the desire for contact, and, at the same time, the invisible distance that separates one individual from another.

Her figures, often gathered in embraces or immersed in an almost absolute proximity, emerge from the pictorial surface through intense, layered colours. Their contours become uncertain, and bodies appear to dissolve into one another. Wu is not so much interested in representing the body as in conveying its emotional perception: a presence constructed through gesture, contact and memory.

10 September 2026 Curva Pura is pleased to invite you for the opening of “Inside the First Image” , a solo exhibition by Martin Bertelmann, with a critical text by Nicoletta Provenzano.

The exhibition brings together photographic works and video installations that explore the nature of the image and the act of looking as a fundamental mode of human knowledge, at the shifting threshold between the analogue and the digital. Vision is an essential means through which we explore, understand and recognise the world, and through which we establish our relationship with the reality we inhabit—natural, social and bound to identity.
By interrogating the image and the infinite strata of meaning inscribed within it, Bertelmann investigates temporality in the tension between immediacy and impermanence, and in relation to the aura of originality within the digital age. His practice engages with photography as a language that seeks the index of the existent within reality, precisely through the elusive, fragile and ephemeral nature of human passage, the material objects through which it manifests itself, and the limits of human visual perception when set against the seemingly all-encompassing gaze of the machine.
Within the continuous and undifferentiated flow of simulacra that constitutes the uncritical dimension and latent space of the digital, Inside the First Image unfolds as a passage through the forms of apprehending a fugitive visible, through the image and its mise en abyme. The exhibition thus situates the act of looking within a space of tension between presence and representation, between the immediacy of perception and the endless mediation of the image.

urva Pura è lieta di presentare la personale di Antonio Tropiano, DiaFragma, a cura di Davide Dormino.
Il rapporto di Antonio Tropiano con la sua materia, il legno, è un tempo di lunghe attese, continue riflessioni, errori ed intuizioni, un luogo di Studio tra ombrosi e silenziosi boschi: è solo così che il significato trova forma, attraverso sottilissime correlazioni.
Il legno, fibra tenace e materia viva delle opere di Tropiano, è l’esistenza cangiante e dinamica, scalfita o carezzata dalle miriadi di strumenti nelle mani dello scultore, ognuno dei quali definisce un segno, o frammento, una possibilità del divenire forma e quindi simbolo del pensiero.

Curva Pura is pleased to present “How to Catch a Monster”, a duo exhibition by Virginia Lorenzetti and Isabelle Sterner, curated by Andrea Romagnoli and Nicoletta Provenzano, with a contribution by Pasquale Polidori.

The exhibition brings together at Curva Pura the research of Italian artist Virginia Lorenzetti and German artist Isabelle Sterner around a question that cuts across both mythical genealogies and contemporary urgencies: what remains of the monstrous when its boundaries dissolve, when it loses its symbolic topography and disperses into a diffuse, unstable, ubiquitous dimension?

Curva Pura è lieta di presentare la personale di Roberto Piloni, Ludico Minimale, a cura di Guglielmo Gigliotti.
La mostra, in una poetica minimalista e in una processualità potenzialmente illimitata, attraversa orizzonti spaziali e vertigini di precarietà, conducendo ad un mistero di purezza formale che sfida l’ordine e la tensione dinamica tra stabilità e movimento, tra libertà e controllo. Sospeso tra fragilità e misura come un funambulo sul filo, l’artista vive lo spazio e la forma costruendoli in un rigore e una precisione che includono i limiti necessari dell’illusione, le possibilità e i segreti di un balzo sulla linea estetica tesa tra permanenza e impermanenza.
