Art Workshop for Kids in Rome

Thanks to the initiative of a professor from the University of Arkansas in Rome, the Casino Boncompagni welcomed twenty American university students this morning, all spending part of their summer in Rome.

I am truly happy for them and for the incredible experience they had the opportunity to enjoy. They were able to discover a place that is normally closed to the public, learn about a fascinating chapter in the history of the city, admire works by Guercino and Caravaggio, and explore, step by step, the techniques of the great master painter.

The students were enthusiastic, engaged, and full of smiles throughout the visit and the workshop Their curiosity, energy, and appreciation made the experience even more rewarding for me and for everyone involved.

A wonderful multi-generational family chose to include a Roman mosaic workshop at our studio during their time in Rome.

Twenty people, spanning different ages and generations, came together to share a special experience, creating something unique side by side. It required a great deal of preparation, dedication, and hard work from our team, but seeing their smiling faces and the joy they shared at the end made every effort worthwhile.

Moments like these remind us why we love what we do: bringing people together through art, creativity, and the timeless beauty of Roman mosaics.

Every now and then, we at Michelangelo for a Day go and visit the real Michelangelo here in Rome. The artist who has inspired us for so many years.
And every single time, it’s a emotional experience, even at the end of a long day. Spending a few hours surrounded by the silence and magic of the Vatican Museums feels like a special reward, one I’m truly grateful for.
Thank you, Michelangelo, for continuing to inspire us centuries later!

And once again, our most-loved combo: a visit to Castel Sant’Angelo and a fresco painting workshop!

In between, we enjoyed a delicious break with pizza and mortadella. 😋

Thirteen American students got to experience Rome in a truly special way: exploring one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and discovering its fascinating history. We enjoyed the incredible views over the city, and then, after a short 5-minute walk, we arrived at our studio.

There, with lots of enthusiasm and creativity, everyone had the chance to try painting their own fresco and take home a unique memory of their time in Rome

What should students take home from a summer in Rome besides photos? 🏛️

Last week, students from the University of Arkansas Summer Art Program joined us for a hands-on mosaic workshop in our studio.

For a few hours, they stepped away from lectures and museums and experienced a technique by actually practicing it. Piece by piece, they discovered how much skill, patience, and problem-solving goes into an art form that most people only ever see finished.

Thank you to the students and faculty for spending the day with us. We’re looking forward to welcoming the group back soon for their fresco workshop. 💛🎨

Another fantastic afternoon discovering Caravaggio’s world-his most intimate and fascinating side.

The transformation of the Casino Boncompagni into our little painting studio, the walking around the private rooms, and the beautiful garden where we enjoyed a relaxing aperitivo together
discovering the oil painting technique, mixing our own pigments with linseed oil, and then finally bringing our pairing to life on canvas.

A huge thank you to my lovely guests for their wonderful company and for all our inspiring conversation about art, painting, music and Rome

It is always pure magic.
