We love welcoming you to our tables, but we would like to ask a small favour next time you book or leave a review.

Florence is home to two distinct restaurants with similar names, and it is easy to mix them up. We frequently see reviews from guests who enjoyed their evening at our friends, Trattoria di Giovanni on the other side of the river, but accidentally post their feedback on our page.

While they are fantastic people running a great restaurant, we are two completely independent establishments. We offer very distinct styles of dining, menus, and price points.

Because we want to ensure you get the exact experience you are looking for—and to avoid any confusion or disappointment—please take an extra moment to verify your reservation and review. Whether it is with us here at Osteria di Giovanni or our colleagues "over the Arno," we want your dining experience to be exactly what you intended.

Preavviso – dal 2 al 24 agosto compresi saremo in montagna, al mare, a letto, in piscina, sull'amaca, nel parco, a mangiare da amici e parenti, a passare del tempo con i nostri figli, genitori, parenti e amici. Comunque sia, NON in cucina ai fornelli!

Ci prendiamo un attimo di pausa, mangeremo insalata caprese (o varianti) a tutti i pasti se nessuno cucina per noi... e ci ricarichiamo le pile!

It is an expensive dish. We won't hide that from you. But there is nothing in the world that tastes like freshly shaved truffles.

It's really hard to describe - deep, savoury, umami, musky, earthy, damp ... sort of like eating the forest floor! We realise that none of that sounds particularly appealing, and yet this is one of our most popular dishes!

So don't miss out. You could even order a dish to share if you are slightly scared (and then it becomes a race about who has the fastest fork action!).

250 anni di indipendenza. Non 250 anni di storia, ma di indipendenza.

​Come famiglia in parte americana, oggi facciamo fatica a riconoscere gli Stati Uniti nel modello proposto dal governo di America—un Paese che sembra aver smarrito la sua vocazione alla libertà, all'accoglienza e all'idea che il sogno di chiunque possa realizzarsi.

​Per questo, preferiamo riflettere su un altro volto di questa nazione. Pensiamo alla Coppa del Mondo, alla straordinaria accoglienza da parte della gente comune di fronte a un'invasione amichevole di turisti. Pensiamo alla voglia di condividere cibo, cultura e usanze, di festeggiare insieme. E pensiamo soprattutto alla grande squadra nazionale, formata in gran parte da immigrati e figli di immigrati.

​Questa, per noi, è l'America che vale la pena festeggiare dopo 250 anni di indipendenza.

​Tantissimi auguri a tutti, americani e non!
