🇮🇹 We Italians love animals… most of the time 😂🐈

This is just one of those little things we do in Italy.
A strange little tradition that has been around forever, and maybe people in other countries don’t do it.

We put water bottles outside our houses to keep cats from peeing there 😂💧🐈

Is it scientific? Probably not
Is it Italian? Absolutely

Just another one of those little things that makes Italy… Italy

And I wanted to share it with you ❤️🇮🇹

I asked my American wife what she misses most about America…
She said Mexican food. 🌮
I’m not gonna lie… for a few seconds, I was offended. 😂
After all these years in Italy… Mexican food?!
Fine. Tomorrow she gets a frozen margarita
Because apparently… happy wife, happy life 🍹😂

18 in America, 30 in Italy, Two completely different ideas of family 🇺🇸🇮🇹
In some American families, turning 18 means becoming financially independent: moving out, paying your own bills, sometimes even contributing to rent
In Italy, it’s not unusual to be 30 and still live with your parents while Mom and Dad continue to help with almost everything.
And the interesting part is… neither culture necessarily means that families love each other more or less.
It’s simply two very different ideas of independence, responsibility, and family.
I’ve seen both sides firsthand, especially because I’m married to an American.
And honestly… there’s something to learn from both.

Americans… here’s a little advice before your next trip to Italy😂🇮🇹
In America, “How are you?” is often just a friendly way to say hello
In Italy? Be careful 😂
If you ask an Italian “Come stai?”, they might actually tell you how they’re doing… and that can turn into a 20-minute conversazione
Work, family, back pain, the neighbor, the weather… you might get the whole story 😂
It’s not better or worse — it’s just another funny cultural difference between America and Italy 🇺🇸🇮🇹
So Americans… next time you ask an Italian “How are you?”
make sure you have some time to spare 😂

SO… WHAT EXACTLY IS FERRAGOSTO — AUGUST 15TH IN ITALY? 🇮🇹🇺🇸
If you’re American, you might have never heard of Ferragosto before.
August 15th is one of the biggest holidays of the summer in Italy. 🇮🇹☀️
The tradition goes all the way back to Ancient Rome, and today Ferragosto also coincides with the Catholic celebration of the Assumption of Mary.
But for Italians, Ferragosto is much more than a religious holiday.
It means family, friends, food, the beach, long lunches, and taking a real break from everyday life. 🏖️🍝🍷
And this is probably the part that surprises Americans the most:
Around August 15th, many Italians take their vacation at the same time.
Businesses, shops, offices and even some restaurants may close for days or weeks. Some towns can feel almost completely different — quieter, slower, and much less busy.
Of course, not literally everyone stops working. Hospitals, hotels, tourism, essential services and many businesses remain open.
But culturally, Ferragosto represents something very Italian:
“It’s August. Work can wait” 😂🇮🇹
It ’s a day to enjoy life, spend time with the people you love, eat way too much, and hopefully end up somewhere near the sea. 🌊❤️
And yes… my American wife from Iowa still can’t believe an entire country can slow down like this 😂🇺🇸

One of the fun cultural differences I’ve noticed between 🇺🇸 America and 🇮🇹 Italy!
In the U.S., back-to-school shopping can be a big tradition, with families buying new backpacks, notebooks, supplies, and more every year.
In Italy, it’s often a little different. Many kids might keep the same backpack for several years and simply replace what they actually need. 🎒

Neither way is right or wrong — everyone should do what works best for their family! ❤️

It’s just another interesting difference between American and Italian culture that I’ve noticed over the years with my American wife 🇺🇸🇮🇹

If you’ve been to Italy, you’ve definitely seen these little napkins sitting on the tables at bars and cafés.
You find them EVERYWHERE
And I’m pretty sure you picked one up and thought:
“What are these even for?” 😂
Too thin to clean your hands
Too weird to blow your nose
And that sound… 🤣
So maybe you just assumed they were completely useless

Well… now you finally know what they’re for. 🇮🇹
