On Wednesday, the sky over Iceland went dark in the middle of the afternoon. 🌑

For a few strange, beautiful minutes, the sun disappeared completely — the first total solar eclipse Iceland has seen since 1954. The next one isn't due until 2196, so if you caught it, you were part of something most of us only get once.

Here in the Highlands, we didn't need a special occasion to look up. Húsafell's skies have always done the heavy lifting — it's the same darkness and the same wide-open quiet that brings the Northern Lights dancing over the glacier most weeks come winter. Wednesday just gave the sky one more trick to show us.
