Grateful 🙏🏻
There are moments when you feel completely overwhelmed by the love and affection people have for you. And then there are moments when a simple act of kindness leaves you utterly speechless.
Last Christmas, I shared a little story saying that I wanted to make Kaab el Ghazal, but I didn’t have the crimper needed to create the beautiful pattern on the cookies. It was just a passing thought, something I shared and probably forgot about soon after.
Until April this year, when Finla messaged me: “I have got the crimper for you. Could I please have your address so I can send it?”
I remember sitting there, staring at my phone as my eyes filled with tears. How does someone remember something so small, months later? How does someone remember a tiny detail about you, find that very thing while travelling to India, carry it all the way here, and then think of you enough to send it your way! That is the kind of love this little corner of the internet has given me.
I started this page simply to share what I had cooked or baked that day. I never came here thinking about numbers, insights, comparisons or competition. I never tried to emulate anyone else’s style. This has always been my little space for creativity, a place to share something I love with people who seem to love it just as much.
But somewhere along the way, this space gave me something I never expected: people! People who remember. People who care. People who surprise you with kindness when you least expect it.
Finla, thank you for remembering me! For remembering such a tiny, seemingly insignificant detail, finding that crimper, carrying it with you, and then sending it my way. It may be a small kitchen tool, but to me, it represents something so much bigger.
It is an act of kindness. And it is acts like these that make the world such a beautiful place to be. ❤️
Thank you. Truly 🥹
