Rajbari Bawali is a heritage resort around 50 kms south of Kolkata where you come closest to the history of the province of Bengal in the late Eighteenth century which comprised of Bihar, East and West Bengal, Odisha, parts of Eastern UP and parts of Assam. This huge structure to house the extended family of rich and influential zamindars was built 14 years after the battle of Plassey. The Zamindars would collect land revenue from the peasants, deposited 10% to the English East India Company and retained 1% with themselves as per Lord Cornwallis's Permanent Settlement. The oppressive Zamindari system was abolished in 1951. We stayed in the resort for three days trying to explore the past and the surrounding areas of rural Bengal.

A giant oko leaves ( ekkam in Pugo Galo area ) found in Goa which stems up to 10-11 feet height. Oko has multiple usages in many tribal societies of Arunachal Pradesh like serving plates for starters, packing main meal courses and for filtering the local beer called opo (common name for the beverage), poka (the dark opo) or poli (the reddened opo mainly prepared out of millet).
