NEW OPENING!! While we’re on the subject of new offerings in Wexford Town, we bet you didn't know there is now a tapas bar downstairs at The Old Granary on Westgate? Van Kaats Tapas is the latest addition from owner Paul Cullen and the team, and it comes after a year of listening, learning and refining what people wanted from the venue.....The result is a dedicated tapas space that has transformed the former cocktail lounge into something completely different for the town.
Head Chef Renata is clearly passionate about food, and that comes through in the menu. It brings together traditional favourites, some more contemporary dishes, and influences from Spain and South America, all built around the idea of sharing food with friends and family. New General Manager Georgia says they have been delighted to see people embracing the concept since opening, with plenty of customers already returning. A quick look at the menu (and photos 👀) and you'll find dishes such as Patatas Bravas, Chilli & Garlic Tiger Prawns, Korean Bao Buns, Beef Brisket Sliders, Lemon & Pepper Calamari and Three Cheese Croquettes, alongside lighter options including Padrón Peppers and Mediterranean Tapenade.
With hospitality businesses constantly working to evolve, it’s always encouraging to see operators like Paul bringing something different to the table.
