A fantastic afternoon in Queen Maeve Square 📸✨

WB’s Coffee House was delighted to provide the food for the official launch of the World Press Photo Exhibition 2026 right here in the heart of Sligo.

It’s wonderful to see Queen Maeve Square Sligo hosting an international exhibition of this calibre — and even better that it is completely free for everyone to visit.

The exhibition features powerful, award-winning photography from around the world and will be on display in the square until 10th September.

If you’re in Sligo over the coming weeks, definitely take some time to wander through the exhibition — and pop over to WB’s afterwards for a coffee, lunch or a few Sligo Bay Oysters! 🦪

What a week!

My two nephews, Conor & Fionn came all the way from Kildare for a week of work experience, and I hope they leave with memories they'll never forget.

Over the week they learned what it's really like to work in a family business – serving customers, clearing tables, making coffees, delivering food, washup and seeing first-hand what great customer service is all about.

They also had the incredible opportunity to help serve food to the Spanish Ambassador during the visit of the ⚓El Galeon Andalucía ⚓ before swapping aprons for waders and spending a day on our oyster farm with Glenn, learning where our oysters begin their journey.

From café life to oyster farming, every day was different. There really is nothing beats hands-on experience when it comes to learning.

We're so proud of how they got stuck in, asked questions, worked hard, and represented themselves so well. Wishing them both every success in whatever path they choose next. 💙

It's been a pleasure having Anna and Giulia with us at WB's Coffee House as part of their Erasmus placement.

Over the past few weeks they've worked hard, always brought a smile to work, and become part of our team. We hope you've enjoyed your time in Sligo as much as we've enjoyed having you with us.

I came across this photo of my mum and dad in the early days of their journey together. Dad had recently opened The Punchbowl Lounge in 1969, while Mum was opening her first boutique. The flares, the fashion and the optimism of the era are all there, but what stands out most is their courage to follow their dreams. Today, this photo is a treasured reminder of Dad and the life they built together. ❤️
