🍁Cónocht an Fhomhair, Autumn Equinox is upon us & the days leading in arrive as quiet turning points across the landscape, and across ourselves. Shadow and Light coexisting in harmony, without resistance or battle, a natural acceptance of what is before we fully descend into the darkness & hear the Call of the Cailleach, The Wise Woman.

🍁Across our landscape, the evenings draw in & we are reminded to slow down, gather what has ripened & honour the turning of the season. It is a time for harvest, gratitude, release & reflection.

❤️In our bodies, it is a time to lean back into our innate wisdom & breathe deeply into each cell that has carried us through. From our heads, through our hearts, & all the way to our baby toes. Take a deep breath of gratitude, and perhaps relief. Listening, & feeling what is asking to be acknowledged and released.

❤️As Mother Nature shows us the beauty in the surrender of letting things go, like the leaves from the trees. It is truly a time to embrace the natural wisdom of the earth in our daily human life.

🍁Where can you offer gratitude?

🍁With humility and courage, what are you ready to let go of?

✨Our folklore tells us we should never pick or eat wild blackberries after Halloween. Why? Because that’s when the Púca, the mischievous, ever shape-shifting spirit of Irish lore passes through the land casting spells on the lingering crops leaving them sour to anyone who dares to try them 🎃

✨The Púca may appear as a black horse with glowing yellow eyes, a goat watching from too close, or a dark animal that feels wrong in ways you can’t quite explain. It does not simply mimic, it chooses, taking shapes that reflect something deeper in whoever meets it. Some are led astray by it, others are guided on their internal homecoming

✨Right now, the roads & hedges around Tara are brimming with blackberries & it’s been joyful to see so many of you out foraging!

✨So as Equinox & Samhain approaches & the evenings draw in get out foraging & creating your own homemade treats before the Púca appears 🍂✨

Fáilte go dtí Ríocht na Sióga! 🧚‍♀️✨
The Hill of Tara in County Meath is one of the most magical places in Ireland to experience the world of the fairy folk. When visiting, you can easily spot the special fairy trees standing proudly across the landscape.
As author and folklorist Jo Kerrigan explains, its surrounding countryside are home to ancient fairy forts, little earthen enclosures and ringforts that hold centuries of history. Jo Kerrigan highlights how these fairy forts go back deep into the mist of time, long before Christianity, making the Hill of Tara a truly unique place where people have grown up with these legends.
Exploring the Hill of Tara reveals magic everywhere you look, from tiny fairy doors tucked into old stone walls to whimsical toadstools and local fairy art. It is a wonderful reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things in life! 🍄🌿

“When the mind is festering with trouble or the heart torn, we can find healing among the silence of mountains or fields, or listen to the simple, steadying rhythm of waves”. -John O’Donoghue

Irish poet and philosopher John O’Donohue from the West of Ireland uncovers the secrets of this ancient world. With lyrical wisdom he reveals the treasures that lie hidden within your own soul and the ‘secret divinity’ in the relationship we hold towards ourselves others.

Exploring a myriad of themes including nature, friendship, solitude and creativity, he draws from the holy waters of Ireland’s spiritual heritage to lead you to a place where your heart can be healed and nourished.

In our Giftshop on Tara we always keep a space for John O’Donoghue’s soul speaking books & love to see them going into your hands & hearts.

Our longstanding favourite & recommendation is Anam Cara meaning Soul Friend.
Who is your own Anam Cara?

Lughnasadh is one of Ireland’s four ancient Celtic festivals, celebrated around 1st August to mark the beginning of the harvest season. 🌾

Named after the god Lugh, it was traditionally a time to give thanks for the first fruits of the harvest, gather with family and community, and celebrate with feasting, music, games and storytelling.

To embody patience too- “the apples are on the trees but they are not ripe for picking”
Where can we connect with nature in this way in our own lives ?
Where can we practice trust in the nature of our own beings ?

For generations, this festival marked an important turning point in the year, honouring the abundance of the land and the hard work that made the harvest possible.

As one of Ireland’s most significant ancient ceremonial landscapes, the Hill of Tara invites us to reflect on our ancestors’ connection to the land, the seasons, and the traditions that continue to inspire us today.

Lughnasadh faoi mhaise daoibh!🌿

New to the Giftshop - Copper Bracelets & Orgonite.

Copper, one of the oldest metals, has been valued throughout history for its healing & energetic properties and conductivity. It carries a deep connection to the Earth and is often seen as a symbol of energy flow and connection.

Orgonite, created from resin, metals and crystals, is embraced by many within modern spiritual communities as a symbol of harmony, balance and intention. Bringing copper and orgonite together creates a unique meeting of ancient materials and contemporary creativity. A reminder of our relationship with the natural world and the energies we feel around sacred landscapes.

At Tara, where the ancient land holds memories of generations past, these elements become a personal expression of reflection and connection to this remarkable place. A beautiful fusion of history, nature, and spiritual symbolism.✨🌿
