🌻 Fresh Flowers and Friendly Staff 🌞
It’s that time again—we’ve got a fresh delivery in our Garden Centre at Vandeleur Walled Garden, and our stellar garden staff have been hard at work stocking the shelves ahead of the Bank Holiday Weekend. 🍃 We have a gorgeous variety of dahlias, bedding flowers, pollinator-friendly perennials, mixed late-summer planters, and more!

So, if you’re looking for some supplies for that big Bank Holiday garden project, or maybe some advice on what to plant in that awkward shaded area… come see us! The forecast this weekend might be a bit cloudy, but our staff always have a sunny disposition. ✨

Tourism Tuesday: Kilrush Farmers Market 🧺🎻

Welcome back to our Tourism Tuesday series, where we spotlight all the wonderful things you can do in our hometown of Kilrush. This week, we're spotlighting a weekly favourite that brings the community together: the Kilrush Farmers Market.

Every Thursday from 9 AM to 2 PM, the town square transforms into a lively hub of local colour and creativity. Visitors can browse stalls filled with fresh produce, homemade bakes, handcrafted goods, flowers, fresh fish, and more! And all of this is brought to you by passionate local producers and artisans.

🎶 Often accompanied by live traditional Irish music, the market offers more than just a place to shop — it’s a celebration of West Clare’s vibrant community spirit. With groups like the Brothers of Charity regularly participating, it’s an inclusive and welcoming experience.

☘️ From Thursday 30th July to Monday 3rd August, Kilrush will come alive with the sound of traditional music, set dancing, workshops, céilís, cultural displays and so much more as the Kilrush Traditional Music & Set Dancing Festival returns for another fantastic year.

🌿 Garden Centre inspiration—it’s all about potential! 🌿

When browsing plants in a garden centre, it can sometimes be difficult to imagine what they might look like once they've settled into their new home and become fully established. This week, we're highlighting a few plants we often have available in our Garden Centre that you can also see thriving right here at Vandeleur Walled Garden & Visitor Centre.

🌸 Echinacea (Coneflower)
Alone in a plastic pot, Echinacea can sometimes appear a little sparse or straggly. However, once established, its tall stems and vibrant blooms bring height, colour, and pollinator-friendly interest to sunny borders. We particularly love pairing it with Rudbeckia (Black-Eyed Susan) for a spectacular late-summer display!

🌺 Geum
These charming perennial plants are prized for their long-lasting flowers, bringing colour from late spring through summer. You can see beautifully established clumps of Geum growing in the beds beside our Garden Centre, as well as near our Irish Hare statue within the Walled Garden itself.

🪻 Lavender
A classic favourite… and for good reason! Young lavender plants may look small, shaggy, and have very few blooms when you first see them in the Garden Centre. But given time, they develop into thick, fragrant clumps of purple flowers that are loved by both gardeners and pollinators alike. You can admire some wonderful mature examples in our large lavender bed near our rose garden and fig tree.

🌿 While we don't always have every plant you see throughout the Walled Garden in stock, we often carry many of the varieties growing here. If you're looking for inspiration for your own garden beds, borders, or containers, take a stroll through the garden and then browse our Garden Centre to see what catches your eye.

🍃 And if you're searching for a particular look or plant, don't hesitate to ask our team. Even if we don't have the exact variety available, we'll be happy to suggest similar plants that could suit your space and growing conditions.
