Charlie and Noreen Foley, with their daughter Eileen and son Charles. 📷

In 1946, Charlie stepped into his father’s shoes and took over 101 New Street. He married the beautiful Noreen Lyne, from the famous Kerry footballing family, and together they ran the pub and grocery and raised their young family. 🥹

Eileen, our mom, didn't realise at the time that even though she would persue a career in nursing that eventually she would go on to keep these doors open for decades to come 🫶

Our great-grandmother Ellen Foley, surrounded by her children. 📷

In 1896, Ellen and her husband Charlie bought 101 New Street and opened the doors. Her son Charlie went on to run it after them. ❤️

A priest and a nun in the one family… sure it was nearly compulsory back then. 😄

Only 22 days to go until we turn 130. 🤯

Continuing our countdown to 130 years ✨️ 📷

As we look back on the wonderful 130 years of Charlie Foley’s, it’s lovely to see old memories and little pieces of our history being shared with us. ❤️

Irene Hurley kindly shared this lovely letter to Santa, dated 4th November 1973, with her Christmas wishes for a pink coat, a dog and a new red dress! 🎅🏻 Along with it came some wonderful memories of our grandfather Charlie and our mom Eileen. Irene’s family business, Hurley’s Butchers, was just a few doors away from Foley’s.

Irene also mentioned Rinty 1, 2 and probably 3! 😂
There was always a Jack Russell in the building, and they all seemed to end up with the same name… Rinty! 🤭 Another little piece of our history that brought a right smile to our faces 🐶

It’s amazing how these little pieces of the past bring back so many memories and connect generations, even after all these years. ❤️

A huge thank you to Irene and everyone who has been sharing their memories of our family and bar with us. Please keep them coming… we’d love to hear yours! 📜
