Hello friends,

Today, we are 5 years old. And I just want to thank from the bottom of my heart, every single one of you who have helped us to reach this point. I'm not sure whether I thought we'd get this far when we opened the doors 5 years ago, with no indoor seating, and not much of a plan, but we have stuck to the core values we set out at that time; community, sustainability and quality, and I believe that those values have gotten us to where we are today. I hope you'll agree that we are providing a space for the community, that we are using beautiful, local ingredients and that we are doing what we do to the best of our ability. And we hope you like it. Firstly I'd like to thank our amazing suppliers who we've had on the menu from day one, our staff, some of whom have been here since we opened the doors, and to you our customers and our community who have always supported us, thank you.

Amárach beidh POTA Café 5 bliana ar an Tulach. San achar sin bhí sé de phribhléid againn fáilte a chur roimh an oiread den phobal áitiúil. Táimid iontach buíoch as an tacaíocht ar fad atá faighte againn. Don phobal atá an áit agus ní ann do POTA gan ár bpobal dílis

Ach tá POTA, mar bhrionglóid beagáinín níos sine ná sin. Thosaigh sé amach mar shíol beag breis agus 10 mbliana ó shin agus bhí a chéad bhaile aige i lár cathair Chorcaí i 2018, áit ar reáchtáladh é mar phreabchaifé ar feadh míosa. Bhí na croíluachanna céanna (agus cuid de na milseoga céanna) ann an uair sin! Scaipeadh an bhileog seo timpeall ar chathair Chorcaí an uair sin le daoine a thabhairt le chéile san áit. Ag cloí lenár luachanna inmharthanachta, táimid ag scaipeadh na bileoga céanna a bhí fágtha ón uair sin go háitiúil agus ag iarraidh an tairscint céanna a dhéanamh. Mar sin, duine ar bith a thagann isteach idir 17 agus 21 Meitheamh, gheobhaidh siad misleoigín amháin Fionn Mac Drool (donnóg beag clúdaithe le seacláid bhán) in aisce nuair a cheannaítear deoch the ach an bhileog sin a thaispeáint ag an gcuntar.

On 17 June, POTA will be 5 years in An Tulach. During that time it has been our privilege to welcome so many members of our local community. We are incredibly grateful for all of the support we have received. The café is here for the community and POTA would not exist without our loyal customers. The idea of POTA goes back a little further though. It began as a little seed more than 10 years ago and it had its first home as a café in the middle of Cork City in 2018, where it ran as a pop-up for a month. Even then we had the same core values (and some of the same desserts). This flier was distributed in the city to bring the community together. In keeping with our sustainable goals, we’re distributing the ones we had left over locally. So, anyone who comes in between 17 and 21 June and presents this flier will get a free Fionn Mac Drool (mini chocolate brownie covered in white chocolate).

Go raibh maith agat!

"It’s full steam ahead at Diarmuid Ó Mathúna’s cafe, where the installation of solar panels over the outdoor terrace has reduced grid demand by 20 per cent and nearly all food waste is going into a biodigester to create compost and biomethane. This is the forward thinking so typical of the all-day cafe , where the dishes are creatively named “as Gaeilge” including the grá-nola, the new buama beacáin (a mushroom brunch dish) and of course, the epic tóstaí." Read our full review here. JC

Thug Diarmuid Ó Mathúna POTA cuairt ar dhaltaí dara bliana i Coláiste Chroí Mhuire i gCo. na Gaillimhe le clár 'Na Buntáistí a Bhaineann le Fanacht ar Scoil' ó JAI. Labhair Diarmuid leis na daltaí faoin aistear oideachais agus gairmiúil aige féin, ag leagan béim ar an luach a bhaineann lena n-oideachas féin agus ar an ról a d'fhéadfadh a bheith acu sa domhain oibre.
