56 Central Restaurant Large spacious locally owned Restaurant on Galway's famous Shop Street. Open for breakfast of traditional fare and modern plates of Pancakes, Smashed Avocado.

Lunch serves famous Melts, Burgers, Pasta and Fish n Chip. Great: Coffee:Cake: W**e:Guinness This Cafe Restaurant W**e Bar was born from a vision of connections, bringing together the stories of Art🎨, Culture💛 and Nature 🌲through the medium of Food🥗 and Drink🍷. Situated high above the bustle of Shop Street in Central Galway, the building is an open space of artistically decorated themed rooms surrounding the tranquillity of the Buddha roof top garden. The menu is a blend of local produce and traditional recipes, with an international twist. If you are looking for home comforts, we offer burgers from beef or chicken to our chickpea burger🍔 carefully combined with fresh avocado🥑 and salsa. There are super food salads and, of course, our famous Chicken Melt. Breakfast can be a traditional full fry 🍳to a very Aussie style eggs with avocado🥑 and salsa. The best bet I ever made was the bet I made with myself that Arentas would be the greatest chef to have by my side on this journey and every second of the day he proves me right

We are back from the mountains after hosting a 4 day womens retreat.

Arentas came along and cooked with passion, care and dedicated for 4 days. Breakfast lunch dinner cakes snacks all made from scratch with love

He is silent when he cooks, when he feeds you he stares to watches your face for a reaction , then he places a gentle hand on your shoulder and says something “yassss I knew you gonna love this combo oh the flavours I love”

We enjoyed a few days after chilling in sleepy seaside village eating the best fish and sampling some delicious wines ( and of course a wee pinteen)

It was a wonderful weekend hosting, looking after people, creating delicious meals and having the best belly laughs with Amy & Gil

Honestly our jaws and bellies are sore !!!!

A little bit of history about this beautiful building... Back in 1936 it opened as Lydon’s Restaurant, run by women, a three-year lease, living upstairs above the dining room. It later became Lynch’s Café, before Gill took over in 2015 and named it 56 Central, after the number on our door.
And that painting everyone loves “Rain on the 409 Bus”? Gill says it represents every woman who’s walked through our doors since 1946. Quite possibly your granny, in for her pension and a cup of tea. 90 years of stories, one building.
