A massive loss for Dublin and Ireland with the death of Glen Hansard during the week. One of our best musicians and promoters of the arts. It’s been a sad week and we send our wishes to his family and friends. Looking back over the week you can see across social media how many people he really impacted. We will have the opportunity to pay our respects to Glen on Monday across the road. Glen played with the Frames in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham back in May 2022 and it only feels like not so long ago. Some images of the gig included. RIP Glen 💔
A public wake will be held in the Baroque Chapel at IMMA, Royal Hospital Kilmainham, on Monday 3 August, from 11am to 4pm, where Glen will lie in repose.
His funeral will take place the following day, Tuesday 4 August, at 1:30pm in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin.
Whether you knew him through The Frames, Once, his solo work, or simply the generosity of spirit he brought to Irish music, Glen’s voice and songs have left an enduring mark on so many lives. We will be playing his music more in the pub as he really was a gem of Dublin.
