This Wednesday, kicking off our Trad and Folk Festival 2026 is the wonderful Gráda, for their only Dublin show this summer!

Five wonderful musicians back in a room together for the first time in three years playing a few old favourites, with a few jokes along the way.

Joining them for the ride is their great friend and brilliant songwriter Christof van der Ven, bringing songs from his gorgeous new album "is this what we've become?” 🎶

We are very saddened to hear the news of the passing of Cat Dowling. We were honoured to have her perform at Whelan's over the years in many guises, including fronting Alphastates and more recently under her own name. Another great talent lost from Dublin's music family. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Cat's family and friends.

is a singer songwriter from Kildare Town and for the past two decades or so has been travelling living and playing all over Europe and North America always writing and recording along the way. The new album is due for release in the spring of 2027. The Ciarán Wynne band recently launched their new single “ I thought I was your Man” in Febuary of this year and will launch their next single “Carnival People” on Saturday 8th August at this years Lugnassa festival at the Irish National Stud Kildare Town.
