A new food festival comes to Cork this week
The Old Butter Roads Festival | Thursday 8th – Sunday 11th October celebrates an extraordinary part of Cork’s food story.
Cork was once at the heart of the international butter trade. Imagine butter made on small farms across West Cork and Kerry, travelling the old Butter Roads into Cork — before being traded and shipped from the city to markets around the world.
This week, that story comes to life through food, tastings, music, stories, walks and talks.
And Bakestone is part of it with two events:
🧀 Friday | Blessed Are the Cheesemakers
Talks & tastings with Hegarty’s Cheddar, Toonsbridge Dairy & Bakestone at St Anne’s. Free entry.
🧈 Saturday | A Taste of the Old Butter Roads
Stories, songs & tastings at Bakestone Perry Street, hosted by Kate Ryan, with food by Trish & Martina Cronin, music by Ger Wolfe and stories from Maria Gillen. €25.
And there’s plenty more happening across the four days — check out the full programme above or https://thebuttermuseum.com/the-old-butter-roads-festival-2026/
