There has been a pub on this site since 1825 and Fred Zeppelins was established in October 1997'

Fred's is known throughout Ireland and beyond as one of the liveliest bars in Cork with reasonable prices and an electric atmosphere at weekends. Freds also has a small 80 capacity venue overhead available for hire. In the bar we have a wide selection of beers, cocktails and our famous shots such as t

he Super Fred Special with Absinthe - guaranteed to hit the spot and you can expect to hear Alternative Rock, Indie and Metal interspersed with everything from Ska, Punk and Classic tunes from all eras . This is reflected in the bars décor which has an old world feel with its slate floor and stone walls which are adorned with Live Gig posters from around the World. There are Live Gigs in the Venue and Djs in the Bar at weekends and there is always something going on. Our version of a Happy Hour “The Rockin Hour” runs from 4pm to 8pm, everyday when most Pints are a bargain

Dublin-based alternative rock trio Nova Dream take to the stage at Freds. Bringing their blend of 90s alternative grit and dark post-punk textures, the band will showcase a set featuring tracks from their upcoming debut EP, The Ideal Start, due to be released in October.

Joining them is White Noise, an alt rock band from Cork and drawing influence from Green Day, Stone Temple Pilots, Sublime and Soundgarden, they really pack a punch to deliver a huge and energetic live performance.

And Helen Burns, an Italian post-punk outfit formed in the Sicilian countryside, operating as much as a family unit as a band. Following their debut album The Rain Caller, which captures personal stories through themes of rain, melancholy, and intensity, the band spent 2025 touring across Italy.

QUEENLESS KINGS are a high-energy alt-rock outfit from Kerry, built on over a decade of brotherhood and a mission to bridge the gap between intimate conversation and primal release. With a sound that balances grit with vulnerability, they create a "community-first" live experience where the stage is an open door and every song is an invitation to connect. No gatekeeping, no ego—just raw, honest rock and roll for the outsiders, the dreamers, and the family you haven't met yet.

GO LIKE THIS are a sibling trio from West Cork delivering bold, modern alternative rock. Drawing influence from Biffy Clyro, Royal Blood, Rage Against the Machine and Paramore to name but a few, their sound is packed with big riffs, big choruses and explosive energy.

KYRAL are a progressive pop-punk band based in Dublin. They're a self proclaimed bastard love child of Paramore and Periphery. What was originally a solo project by our guitarist Tara has turned into a chaotic, energetic monstrosity with catchy hooks, odd time signatures and a ridiculously fun live show

VEINS OF MERCURY are our second wildcard winners as chosen by our host Esther! They are a Darkwave industrial 3 piece outfit from Cork, blending Darkwave electronics, ritual atmospheres, and immersive visual elements. The project explores themes of melancholy, transformation, and emotional intensity through sound and performance.

RAFTERS are a 4 piece Alternative Rock band based in Cork City. They have been making a name for themselves in Cork recently and developing their unique brand of both melodic and grungy alternative rock. They have been compared to acts such as Title Fight, The Smashing Pumpkins and 'a heavier Radiohead or Jeff Buckley'.

DOC ROE are a 3 piece band from Cork playing loud, raw music with fast moving meaty riffs that bring a classic grunge/hard rock sound. To keep fans on their toes they also throw in some texture changes, different time signatures and shack up in dynamics. A band hellbent on captivating every audience they meet by explosive energy, emotive words and loud rock music. No tricks, no gimmicks, just a grá for the live stuff.

FÍOR are a heavy rock n roll band from Cork, whose
Influences go from the Beatles to Slayer. They weave a sonic tapestry that blends the raw energy of hard rock with punk.

MYSECONDLIFE from Cork manages to combine the absurd lyricism of Vi**ra Boys with the pop sensibilities of The Cure, all wrapped up and delivered through the raw explosive energy of the Pixies.

THE PSYCHS are a 5-piece Dublin-based alternative rock band that combine the sonics of 90's industrial and early 00's nu-metal, and combine them with contemporary rock to create a fresh yet nostalgic sound.

BAZOOKAFISH is a 5-Piece Alternative Rock Band based in Cork City that combine beautiful melodies with punchy riffs and explosive drums. Their sound offers a wide array of styles and influences that audiences are bound to latch onto. From Midwest Emo to Post Rock, Pop Rock to Blues and Prog, Bazookafish always keeps the crowd engaged and waiting to see what’s next.

PINWHEEL is our first wildcard pick this year! Our host Aidan in particular thought they stood out and deserved a place in the semi finals. There are a 5-piece alternative rock band hailing from the outskirts of Cork City. Formed in 2025, they've been hitting the scene with a mix of Shoegaze, Blues and Indie. If you love music, you'll love Pinwheel.

5 WIZARDS IN A TRENCHROBE is a five-piece q***r emo/hardcore Cork band that combines complex, Midwest influence with chunky, drop-tuned riffs to break away from cliche and truly stir up something original… and perhaps even magical.

THE SLUGS are a Cork-based four-piece delivering high-energy riff-driven alt-rock with a sharp emotional edge. Their sound fuses the grit and swagger of Queens of the Stone Age and the melodic punch of Catfish and the Bottlemen, creating a taut, livewire tension that defines their identity. Rapidly building momentum in the Cork live scene having earned a reputation for visceral, high-energy, The Slugs are emerging as one of the most exciting new acts in Ireland’s DIY scene.

OLD CRAB ROAD is a Rock/Bluegrass/Folk band based in Tipperary with a combined 50 years of experience. Their performances are heartfelt, lively and entertaining and their songs are crafted in the forge of life's experiences and reflect the joy, anger, pain and ecstasy that marks a life.

Four amazing acts are coming together tonight to raise much needed funds for Action Against War, a group in Cork City campaigning for neutrality, peace, and diplomacy. They believe in and are advocating for the use of non-violent and non-militant means to resolve conflicts at local, national and international levels.

Action Against War have put together an amazing night for ye, including some fantastic local acts as well as a raffle at the end of the night.

Free admission, but donations at the door greatly appreciated 🕊️
