Welcome to An Sugan ‘Seafood Bar and Restaurant’, we are a family run and owned business for over thirty years. We're the perfect place to get away from it all and relax by an open fire with a glass of wine and maybe a bowl of Fresh Bantry Bay Mussels. Over the years An Sugan has become synomymous with West Cork and Clonakilty. Food is served all day in the bar with a menu that offers everything

from An Sugan Seafood Pie to a Ballyburden Steak Sandwich. In addition, we have two private dining rooms that are suitable for all occasions from birthdays to anniversaries, with a variety of menu's to suit. Located adjacent to An Sugan in a beautiful Georgian house is our 7 bedroomed Guesthouse, which is a short stroll from the centre of town.

A house with a story to tell.

Strand House has long been part of the history of Clonakilty. Once home to the Irwin family, successful local merchants, it is closely connected to Mary Jane Irwin — poet, political activist and wife of the renowned Fenian leader Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa.

Her remarkable life took her from Clonakilty to the heart of the Irish nationalist movement and across the Atlantic, yet her story remains closely tied to this historic house.

Today, Strand House welcomes guests from near and far — offering not only a comfortable stay in the heart of Clonakilty, but a chance to experience a small piece of Irish history.
