Here we serve up warming and hearty dishes, fine wines, and ice cold beers and cocktails, all nestled in our cosy, comfortable bar. Our Function Room is available to hire for parties and events. To many, the name Henry Grattan may sound vaguely familiar. Dubliners have walked past his statue in College Green since it was erected in 1876, but may never have stopped to consider the patriot and his l

egacy. Although Grattan was born in Dublin, his story is closely intertwined with Celbridge and he lived at Celbridge Abbey for a time. He is well known as being a fantastic orator and for his efforts into ensuring Ireland be granted its rightful status as an independent nation. It was said, “He thought only of Ireland; lived for no other object; dedicated to her his beautiful fancy, his elegant wit, his manly courage, and all the splendour of his astonishing eloquence.”
