As you may have seen, Foleys has been demolished this week.
This action was not taken lightly by anyone involved and has caused sadness and distress to us as a family. Unfortunately, following the fire, the remaining walls were structually unsound. This was reported in several engineer reports and indeed by a Conservation Archaeologist Firm, whom we hired to carry out a full report.
Added to the above was the on-going vandalism that was happening to the vacant building.
Having sought advice and then going through the relevant procedures with the Authorities and Council, Planning Permission was sought and granted to have the building demolished.
Please be assured that if it were possible, Foleys would have been preserved and repaired...no one wanted that more than us.
We would like to thank the residents of Castlebellingham for their understanding in this deeply poignant time, a landmark of the village is gone. To the Tidy Towns Committee a big thank you for all your work with the beautiful paintings on our hoarding, and finally to each and everyone of you who shares a memory of Foleys in your heart, it means the world to us.

Some memories of Foleys. It's hard to believe that it's been 4 years since the fire, and over a year since we lost Dad.
The photos show lots of changes over the years. Foleys held a special place in the lives of our family, the local community and her many visitors.
Meetings underway this week about the future of the site ❤

Can you sew? Can you help us?

We are a community based group of volunteers and we are crafting reusable cotton masks for our HCPs and Frontliners, as well as any vulnerable members in our communities.

We have a wonderful team of sewists all across the county busy making masks behind the scenes.

If you would like to join our team please get in touch...

Wondering if anyone has a photograph of Foleys from when it was a private residence. I remember someone tagged us in one once but can't remember who?
Thank you 😊
