Beyond the ancestral altar, the red envelopes, and the reunion dinners, there’s always a corner of the house where games begin. We play Bầu Cua Cá Cọp, a traditional dice game that instantly turns the room loud and competitive and card games like Tiến Lên, where generations sit side by side, teasing and cheering each other on.

Fun fact: during Tết, even small games carry meaning. Winning is never the point, it’s about keeping the energy joyful, because laughter on the first days of the year is believed to set the tone for the months ahead.
