First coffee of 2023 and it’s from 🇮🇳.
Nestled in a valley in the North-western corner of the Shevroys, Moganad estate grows, dubbed as some of the best coffee of the region. The entire estate is intercropped with pepper, cloves and nutmeg which enhances the uniqueness of their coffee.
Situated at 1,250 masl, the coffees here are known for their bold flavours and clean cup quality. This coffee was fermented in a controlled environment with locally-sourced ripened pineapples.
The cherries are selected carefully and handpicked. They are then washed three times to remove the coffee cherry from the bean. Green beans then undergo a unique process where they are kept in air-tight bags along with well ripened pineapples During this time, the temperature and PH levels are closely monitored to ensure consistency among all lots. The beans are then dried on raised beds.
The majority of coffee grown is a mixed variety of Arabica namely S.9, S 5B and Chandragiri coffee. CxR Robusta also does very well in this estate and Moganad Estate was recently the winner of the esteemed award of “Best Robusta Coffee in India” in the year 2016. Moganad Estate was also featured in the Global Coffee Report Magazine in their September, 2016 issue.
