WCC Judge Skills Program

We are honoured to host a WCC judge skills program with Mr. Hendri Kurniawan. It’s ideal for aspiring WCC judges and Barista Championship competitors seeking to better understand the judging criteria, and coffee professionals or enthusiasts interested in the WCC.


Program Overview:

The WCC Judge Skills Program is an educational course designed to teach the judging process and scoring system of the World Coffee Championships, aiding participants in becoming WCC Certified judges.

The program covers judging criteria, scoring methods, evaluation systems, the latest SCA research, WCC regulations, and provides evaluation training using the Coffee Value Assessment system.

Objective: The objective of this class is to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in coffee brewing, enabling them to excel in brewing techniques. Learning how to brew better at home and at the bar.

This class covers not just about brewing variables but how does it matter to the different aspect in the cup. Learn how to speak about coffee better through tasting and practice. Each participants get hands on and instant review on their brews.



How to break down coffee taste and understand different scoresheets used in the coffee industry

- Sensory training — body, acids, sugars, bitterness, aftertaste

- Tasting and assessing coffee with a systematic approach

- Calculating extraction and its impact on your cup results

- Brewing variables — learn when and how to change the right variables to achieve desired results

There are various ways to participate in a competition — as a competitor, judge and volunteer, we all play an important role in the competition, shoutout to all the parties to make it happen successfully!

This year we also have Jessica as one of the head judge of HKBrc, who have been participated in the past years and oversea head judge previously.
