OFFICIAL STATEMENT —
LITTLE ROCK GUYANA
On the Capsizing of the MV Barima
It is with heavy hearts that Little Rock Guyana joins the nation in mourning and prayer following the capsizing of the MV Barima ferry off our Essequibo Coast.
As families wait for news of loved ones who were aboard, and as search and rescue teams continue their tireless work, we stand with every Guyanese family touched by this tragedy.
To the families of those still missing — we see you, we grieve with you, and we are lifting you up in prayer. To those confirmed lost, we extend our deepest condolences; may their memory be a blessing, and may their families find comfort even in the midst of unbearable loss. To the survivors, we give thanks for your safety and pray for your full recovery, in body and in spirit.
This is a moment for our nation to come together — not in blame, but in compassion. Guyana has weathered storms before, and we have always risen by holding each other up. We call on our community to keep the search and rescue teams, the medical personnel, and every family affected in constant prayer. We ask for strength for the officials working around the clock, and for peace to cover every household waiting by the phone for word of someone they love.
Little Rock Guyana will continue to stand in solidarity with you and all affected communities, offering prayer, hope, and support in whatever way we are able as this situation continues to unfold.
Our hope remains anchored. Our prayers remain constant. Our community remains one.
