Once open, this business will consistently support 3 NGO (non-profit) organizations in Guatemala and a community of poverty level/high risk individuals. Mas Que la Calle is a small NGO that offers education to street children who would otherwise never learn to read or write. Nuevos Horizontes is an NGO that works exclusively with victims of domestic violence. Mi Casita Montessori (currently under
construction) will be the first proper Montessori school in the city, offering quality education to many students within the city and from surrounding pueblos. Living in Guatemala and seeing firsthand the conditions that many of our sisters and their children live in, we believe very deeply in the services that these 3 organizations provide. The dessert lounge and art gallery will be located in the city of Quetzaltenango and will offer locally-produced coffee, handmade dessert products and art/photography by local artists. The online store will sell handwoven Guatemalan textiles and handcrafted jewelry. 90-95% of our supplies and/or products will be purchased locally, supporting the local economy and numerous hard-working, yet very low-income families. Many of these families live on a monthly income of $125.00 or less. We are committed to donating 3% of all donations and profits received to the NGO´s that we support, however our most urgent need is to cover business start up costs, from renting the space for the lounge and gallery, to purchasing supplies, furniture and appliances. Our bottom line goal is to have a successful business that is able to continually provide income for the mentioned organizations and in order to do this, we need your help to cover the initial opening costs. Share our site on your Facebook, Twitter and My Space. Not only do we want and deeply appreciate your support, we really want to spread the news about what these amazing organizations are doing and the lives that they are changing here in Central America.
