Join us on Thursday, September 17 for the opening of Load Unload 2: Memory Manual, at .sympan.

The second edition of .sympan’s ongoing load/unload exhibition cycle brings together works by: Christos Tsigaras, Ilir Tsouko & Elidor Mehidi, Gogo Smili, Irini Tampasouli, Natalia Manta, Tereza Stepanian, and Zaza Damo, curated by Athina Lasithiotaki.

Το πεζοδρόμιο,ο υπόκοσμος, τα τσιγάρα, τα πλοία, οι ρεμπέτες, η πρέζα
Συγκάτοικοι στο σκοτάδι
Όχι της νύχτας
Οχι της παρακμής
Το σκοτάδι της ψυχής μας, που έψαχνε μια κάμαρα να αναπαυθεί κι ένα χέρι να μας χαϊδέψει τις πληγές για να συνεχίσουμε
Ποτέ δεν είχα τίποτα
Μόνο τη φωνή μου
Δεν τη διάλεξα
Εκείνη με διάλεξε
Με πήρε απ' το χέρι σα μάνα, σαν ερωμένη, σα δαίμονας κι έμεινε μαζί μου μέχρι το τέλος

.sympan began as a building in the port of Piraeus, a place that changed uses, while keeping its character inalterable. Residence, tavern, cafe, warehouse, machine shop, foundry, shelter of bodies and needs. Walls that held work, bodies, machines, silences and noise. Lives that passed, uses that evolved with time.sympan hosts design that passes through itself, where the space functions as a co-creator. Here, everything builds on something that existed before, creating unique layers of history.sympan is a collective practice that works on space, time and use with the aim of activating relationships.
