Tasty Awards this year. Vassilenas Athens has also been winning the prestigious Athinorama Greek Gastronomy Award every single year since 2006! The most historic Greek restaurant, established in Athens in 1920 and run by the same family for three generations, has now opened a beautiful venue in Chora. Away from the big crowds, we share our modern Greek cuisine and our love for fish, seafood, Greek wine, and generous hospitality around a big olive tree that dominates a beautiful courtyard. We offer a creative Greek cuisine focused on fish, inspired by traditional recipes rendered in a refreshingly modern way. Apart from our iconic taramosalata fish-roe spread (made according to a celebrated secret recipe of the 1950s), we offer dishes like orzo pasta with prawns, smoked tomato and basil or the “savoro”-style amberjack with rosemary and aged vinegar sauce. Fish and seafood specials like grouper cheeks spaghetti are added to the menu daily while others such as the traditional fish soup with fresh fish and vegetables can be prepared to order.
