⛰️ 45 km. 2 hrs, 40 mins. One unforgettable journey.
I gasped. I sweat. But I made it — and I grew.

This was with and — a hike through Ananse Akuraa that became a living classroom 🌿 as we marked Global Wellness day last weekend 😊.

As a Biology & Environmental teacher, I connected deeply with the biodiversity, the resilience of the land, and the rich herbal knowledge rooted in nature.

You can’t protect what you haven’t experienced.
So walk. Breathe. Learn from the land. 🌍💚

I was the only boy among three sisters. 👦🏾👧🏾👧🏾👧🏾

And that meant I grew up with a front-row seat to something many boys never see — the quiet struggles that come with menstruation. 🩸

I remember the hush that fell over the room when one of my sisters stained her uniform. The look of panic in her eyes. The towel she wrapped around her waist. The whispered requests for pads. The discomfort. The silence.
I didn’t have the words then, but I do now: she deserved better. 💔

Better access.
Better understanding.
Better support — from all of us, especially from boys and men. 🙋🏾‍♂️🤝

So now, years later, I found myself standing in front of over 100 girls in two schools — this time not as a brother, but as a voice. 📢

Through our Schools Outreach Ministry, with the incredible support of Royalles Health Foundation(https://www.royalles-health-foundation.com) we distributed sanitary pads 🧼🩹 and held open, powerful conversations on menstrual health and dignity. 💬✨
We didn’t just donate — we educated. We listened. We affirmed. 🧠❤️

Because no girl should miss school because of her period. 📚
No girl should feel shame for something so natural. 🙅🏾‍♀️
And no boy should be allowed to stay ignorant. 👦🏾❌

Yesterday ,as we embarked on this Menstrual Hygiene Day 🌍, I carried my sisters' stories with me — and I raised my voice for the countless girls who still suffer in silence. 🔊💪🏾

Let’s break the stigma. 🚫🩸
Let’s end period poverty. 🎯
Let’s make room for dignity. 👑

Because menstruation is not just a women’s issue — it’s a human issue. 🌎❤️

Waste Is Gold: A Lesson Beyond the Classroom

Last week, my AP Environmental Science class joined the Waste is Gold tour—and it was nothing short of transformative.

We visited the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant (ACARP), where we explored how waste is sorted, processed, and turned into valuable resources like compost and recyclables. It was an inspiring example of the circular economy in action—and a wake-up call to rethink our relationship with waste.

This wasn’t just a field trip; it was a real-world encounter with sustainability, innovation, and environmental responsibility. My students were fully engaged, asking critical questions, drawing connections to class content, and seeing how science directly shapes society.

One of the most powerful takeaways? Realizing that waste isn’t just a problem—it’s a potential resource, when managed with intention and creativity.

Huge thanks to the Waste is Gold team and the staff at the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant for such an impactful experience. These kinds of partnerships between education and industry are essential if we are to raise a generation of environmentally conscious leaders.
