Never mind the pancakes…

It’s SCONE mad here at Café 50 – fruit scones, cheese scones, pistachio & honey scones, chocolate & cherry scones – all homemade and perfect for a morning catch-up with friends.

This week - 9 - 11am Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - you can enjoy a warm buttered scone and a pot of tea or cup of coffee for just £5-00 pp.

Dear Cafe Friends,

If you haven't already heard North Lane and Court Ash car parks have been removed from the Yeovil Masterplan, therefore are no longer under threat of being sold by Somerset Council. Thank you so much to all of you - to everyone who signed the paper petition or shared online; to everyone who wrote letters of opposition to the council or completed the online consultation; and to those who went out of their way to take the petition into your own communities. Our community voice has been heard.

We have reached Phase 2 of the SAVE OUR CAR PARKS campaign:
For those who have a little spare time... here are your next instructions:

1. Send an impassioned email to [email protected] and [email protected] asking the town council to oppose the development of North Lane, Court Ash and Stars Lane car parks.

2. Attend the town council meeting on Tues 7th Oct @7.30pm, 19 Union Street, when they will be deciding WHETHER OR NOT to oppose the plan.
This meeting gives the public a slot to read out a personal impact statement (3 minutes).

3. Email a formal objection letter to [email protected] and cc this to [email protected] (Somerset council leader) and to [email protected] (portfolio holder).

4. Email Adam Dance - [email protected]

5. Tell all your friends and neighbours to sign the petition online or pop into one of the cafes on Princes Street to sign the paper copy.

The council plans to build houses on North Lane Carpark and Court Ash Carpark (the carparks round the corner from Cafe 50). They say the carparks are underused, which is a blatant untruth. If this goes ahead it will significantly impact all the independent businesses in Princes Street and leave our senior customers with nowhere close to park. If you want the council to rethink this plan please share this post and respond to the public consultation which will take place in September. 😡
