We are a Free House which means we are free to choose what we serve when we want to serve it, we are not tied or connected to any Brewery who tell is what to do. We listen to our customers and we pride ourselves in our carefully kept cask conditioned real ales. We don't do Food...but on Friday night we have curry night , where you place your order by midday Friday from our menu and its delivered to your table at 7 30pm, by the Gurkha Inn in Winchester. Wednesday Nights Darren from Catch a Fire Pizza pops by the Pub with his wood fired Pizza Oven & serves amazing Pizzas. He also alternates it with his Fish & Chip Van. Our Wonston Oktoberfest isn’t just about the b**r… Darren from Catch A Fire is rolling in with his German Pop-Up Food Truck for TWO Saturdays during our celebrations! 🌭🥨🍟

The taps are ready… the steins are polished… and Wonston Oktoberfest is almost here!

From 2nd–11th October, we’re transforming the Best Little Pub in Hampshire into our very own little German Bierkeller — and just look at the SIX draught biers we’ve lined up for you! 👆🍻

Our German brewery partners have supplied us with their fabulous branded glassware, so your bier can be enjoyed in a proper German pint glass — or go full Oktoberfest with a TWO-PINT STEIN! 🍻💪

Our 10-day Wonston Oktoberfest kicks off this weekend … and we’re bringing a little taste of Germany to the Best Little Pub in Hampshire! 🇩🇪🍻

🔥 CatchaFire Darren is firing up his German-inspired Street Food Truck for TWO Oktoberfest Saturdays:

🍺🇩🇪 THE BIER LINE-UP IS HERE… AND WE’RE STARTING EARLY! 🇩🇪🍺

For Wonston Oktoberfest 2026, we wanted to do this properly. So from the 2nd–11th October, we’re turning the taps at the Best Little Pub in Hampshire over to SIX German b**rs on draught — with pints, 2-pint steins and some rather special German brewing to explore.

And because we’re frankly not sure we can wait until Friday… 🤫

SNEAKY PREVIEW NIGHTS — Wednesday 30th September & Thursday 1st October! 🍻
Come and help us give the taps, steins and lederhosen a little test run before Oktoberfest officially begins!

At the heart of the takeover are our great friends at Rothaus in Germany’s High Black Forest. This isn’t just another big b**r brand. Rothaus was founded in 1791 by the Benedictine monastery of St. Blasien, and still brews high in the Black Forest at around 1,000 metres above sea level. Their b**rs use soft, crystal-clear water from their own seven springs, regional malt and aromatic hops from Tettnang and Hallertau. Their famous Tannenzäpfle has been around since 1956 and has become something of a German cult b**r.

And what a line-up we’ve got…

🍺 Rothaus Hefe Weizen 7% — fruity, refreshing wheat b**r with that lovely soft, cloudy character.
🍺 Rothaus Märzen 5.6% — classic Oktoberfest territory: rich, malty and smooth, with gentle caramel notes.
🍺 Rothaus Pils 5.1% — crisp, clean and beautifully balanced, with aromatic hops, malt sweetness and a refreshing bitterness.
🍺 Maisel’s Weisse Dunkel 5.1% — traditional dark wheat b**r: smooth, rich and full-bodied.
🍺 Maisel & Friends West Coast IPA 6.6% — the German take on something altogether hoppier: bold, aromatic and modern.
🍺 Bayreuther HELLES 4.9% — bright, crisp and wonderfully drinkable Bavarian Helles.

And nobody gets left behind: we’ll also have Rothaus alcohol-free Pils and Hefeweizen for anyone wanting all the German b**r experience without the alcohol. 🇩🇪

🍂🔥 And just like that… the seasons are changing at The Wonston Arms.

A little late-Sunday afternoon clip that pretty much sums up what weekends at the Best Little Pub in Hampshire are all about. ❤️

The sunshine and long afternoons outside are slowly giving way to cosy corners, warm lights, log fires, great b**r and a pub full of friends.

And judging by this weekend… we’re absolutely ready for it.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came through our little door this weekend. Whether you stayed for one, settled in for the afternoon, caught up with old friends or made some new ones — you created the atmosphere. 🥰🍺

There’s something rather special about a little country pub when autumn arrives. The windows steam up, the fire gets lit, the pints keep coming and suddenly nobody seems in much of a hurry to leave…

That’s The little Wonston. ❤️

🧀 THE BIG SUNDAY CHEESE CLUB IS BACK! 🧀

As the temperatures start to drop and autumn creeps into the Dever Valley, we thought it was time to bring back one of our favourite little Sunday traditions…

The Wonston Big Sunday Cheese Club! 🍷🧀🍇

Join us Sundays from 12–2pm for a relaxed lunchtime drink and a few complimentary nibbles on the bar.

What’s on the platter? Well… that’s half the fun! 😋

It’ll change every week — cheeses, biscuits, fruit, perhaps a little tapas — and, as always, our lovely regulars are very welcome to bring along a little slice or two of something cheesy to add to the communal platter. The more unusual, the better!

Perfect if you’re out for a Sunday stroll around our beautiful Dever Valley before lunch, or simply fancy a couple of drinks and a bit of cheese with friends.
