Beginning to get super excited about this absolute belter of a triple crown of bands!!!

Before we all disappear to places not as great as Wirksworth for much needed holiday we re hosting a summer social....
3 bands playing...
🪶"The Gulls". Four piece funk rockers playing high energy original songs with incredible musicality. They turn up here every so often between playing big city music events coz part of their hearts are here! These guys are not to be missed
👃"Denium Nosebleeed" It's the feather star band!!! And we're fun, free from they tyrany of covers and ready to wake you up.
🧪Acid Giles. They play a mixure of your 90's favourite grunge tunes and there own stuff, there full of love for music are highly infectious. ⁉️Before hand were hosting one of our legendary quiz and task master event starts at 4pm. Everyone welcome

Sunday is all about FLAVOUR. Food served until 6pm. Eat in the restaurant, main bar or grab some rays (?!) and sit in the garden.

In Sri Lanka, Dansela is something you learn about even before you start school.

If you’ve ever travelled to Sri Lanka, you’ve probably seen roadside stalls offering free food to anyone who passes by. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from you’ll always be welcomed with a smile and offered something to eat.
It could be rice and curry, sweets, cold drinks, boiled yam with sambol, bread with caramelised onions, kottu, pickles… the list goes on.

Sri Lankans are known for their generosity. Not because we have extra food or extra money, but because we are taught that giving is one of life’s greatest blessings. We believe nobody becomes poor by giving. Instead, we become richer in spirituality.
Today began in the traditional way. We were honoured to offer dhane (a meal offering) to the Venerable monks who visited our restaurant and blessed us. This is how we traditionally begin a Dansela in Sri Lanka, and it meant so much to be able to continue that tradition here.

Every May and June, you’ll see hundreds of Dansela stalls across Sri Lanka, with people stopping their vehicles to enjoy these freely shared meals and treats. We had planned to do ours in June, but here we are in July, sharing this beautiful tradition with everyone in Wirksworth. Better late than never!

From 5:00 PM today, we’re inviting everyone in Wirksworth to come and enjoy a small Sri Lankan treat from us - Sri Lankan milk rice and spicy sambol and chickpea completely free, just as we would back home.

Whether you’ve experienced a Dansela before or this is your first time, we’d love to welcome you. Come along, say hello, and enjoy a little taste of Sri Lankan hospitality.
