Ever wondered what the Taverners do?
Wonder no more - we are a group of keen cricketers, over a certain age, who play charity matches each week at Queen’s Park, the home of Windermere Sports Club, during the summer months against local groups, clubs and organisations. We also organise occasional social events to help us with our goals.
Our aim is to have a good game of cricket and at the same time raise money by having raffles & auctions after the games (prizes provided by our visiting team). We have a great time socially, all welcome by the way, during and after matches - this year we’ve been welcomed with open arms by the fabulous team at The Elleray in Windermere for our postgame shenanigans & fundraising.
The monies raised throughout the year are then distributed throughout our local area to deserving societies, clubs, organisations and charities to help them with their own agendas and our community in general, you may well already benefit from our efforts more than you’re possibly aware!
So keep an eye on this page for more on what we do, share with your friends and hopefully our positive message can be spread further.
In the near future we have a big match on Wednesday at 6pm against the Sports Club, then Kentdale Land Rover the following week & certainly make a note in your diary of our final fixture on Sunday 16th August which is a big family FUNdraiser with allsorts going on from 2pm & plenty to see, do and possibly win! You could even take home a BMW for the weekend - watch this space 😉
