Here's a little behind-the-scenes look at today's photoshoot with Kay Photographic.

If you know Mark, you can imagine how much he enjoyed a few hours of smiling for the camera. He did manage to go a few natural-looking smiles among all the cheesy grins and complaining. 🤣

We're looking forward to seeing the finished pictures.

We're having fun at the roastery today with the lovely Tom Kay Photographic. Mark's almost managing to look natural some of the time. 🤣

We're looking forward to having some lovely new photos for our website soon, as well as some to mark our 10th birthday celebrations.

For now, here are some incredibly mediocre shots from Sarah. 🙃

This is a public-service announcement for anyone who hasn't noticed that it's about time for a mid-morning cuppa. ☕

This morning Mark is coupling a filter coffee made using of our new Nicaragua Baklava and Mango beans with a Mars bar cake from The Café at Energus.

Sarah's wondering whether he's being paid by Energus as he's doing a much better job of promoting their cake than his own coffee here. 🤣

We're at the roastery today doing a big tidy up ready for an exciting visitor tomorrow. If you're in Whitehaven and in need of a bag or two of coffee, we'd love you to drop in and say 'hi'.

✋ Hands up if you're looking for inspiration for the next coffee to try.

👀Look no further than this very special Nicaragua Baklava and Mango coffee from our friends at Gold Mountain Coffee Growers.

It's available now on our website priced at £14.50 for 250g or £43.50 for 1kg.

We'd love to hear what you all think once you've tried it so don't forget to send us your reviews. 😊

A Day in the Life of Mark - video 4 of 4

Sunderland at last. And that's a wrap (because he was too busy serving the coffee machine in Whitley Bay that he forgot to do a video).

Have you watched all for of today's videos? How do you think he did at documenting his day?

Will Mark remember to video his delivery to Jurang in Leeds?

A Day in the Life of Mark - video 2 of 4

Is he on the road and well on his way to Leeds? Of course not; he's been waylaid by the lure of a bacon sandwich and hash browns for breakfast. Thanks W Lindsay & Sons Limited.

A Day in the Life of Mark

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend a day with Mark as he makes deliveries to Leeds and Sunderland?

Well, he took up the challenge of documenting one of his recent delivery days on camera. We're sharing those videos today in (roughly) real time. Let's see how he gets on...

Can you believe that we're nearly a quarter of the way through 2026 already?

We'd love to hear about any goals for the year you might have achieved or made progress towards so far.

So far, 2026 has been hectic and eventful for us. Not only have we been on our working holiday to Kenya but we've also just picked up the keys to our next home.

There's quite a lot of work to do in the house (painting party, anyone? 🎉) but we're very pleased to have got this far and we do relish a challenge. 😊

Whether you've ticked off the whole of your 2026 bucket list or your plans went out of the window in January, well done for making it this far into the year. You're doing great!

Here's a post looking back at Jean trying to get the groundsheet dry after our visit to last year's ChristCentral Churches Devoted event with New Eden Coffee. Jean didn't think it was funny that she had to fight against the wind. Mark and Sarah thought it was very funny. And no, they didn't help. 🤣 Sarah did help her run out and grab it all in when it started pouring down with rain though (Mark had conveniently popped out just in time to avoid helping with that). And this is just one of the reasons Jean isn't a fan of camping. ⛺It's not all glitz and glamour running a small business. Actually, we've yet to see any glitz or glamour. 🤣

Good morning everyone. If you're in Whitehaven and you're in or around Kells today, we hope you're enjoying the smell of roasting coffee. Mark will be roasting for much of the day so if the smell is making you want a bag of great, specialty coffee, feel free to follow your nose to A19 Haig Enterprise Park and come and say hello.

Running your own business - dream versus reality

The dream: Running your own business means you can be your own boss and do what you want, when you want.

The reality: Jean has spent an hour on an online chat with our web-hosting service provider this evening trying to resolve an issue that's been preventing our newsletters reaching some of our subscribers (and is really hoping that the problem will now be resolved and she won't have to do it all again 😬). Now she's trying to get in touch with our subscriptions payment platform to discuss another issue.

It's just one long party being a company director. 🤣
