We are a brand new Post-16 Training Centre incorporating on site work experience to develop employability skills for young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our ethos is to use as many locally sourced ingredients as possible to create delicious home made, chargrilled burgers in a relaxed atmosphere alongside excellent customer service. We are passionate about the local area and are proud members of both Dorset Food and Drink and Taste of The West. We are thrilled to have achieved a Gold Award two years running from Taste of The West and named as South West Cafe of the year in 2013. We are happy to welcome customers for coffees, teas, desserts and snacks as well as the full burger experience! We are licensed and serve a range of wines, local ales and ciders etc as well as soft drinks. We always have a number of meal deal special offers available alongside a full children's menu. Please do book in advance if possible for evenings and large parties as we do get busy.

It’s been Italian week this week at SAW where we’ve learnt lots of facts about the country, listened to Italian music and made peposo - a traditional Italian stew for our lunch!

We’ve also learnt lots of new skills including soldering, assembling flat pack furniture, identifying allergens and attaching new radiators so our cafe will be toasty warm if you visit!

As well as working towards our Personal Development unit, we also progressed our individual units in Childcare, Painting and Decorating, Colour Theory and Food Presentation.

We even had time to give a presentation to the Sixth Form at Westfield Arts College and visit Nothe Fort where we practised some photography skills.

We’ll be recharging our batteries this weekend ready for another busy week next week!

A big thank you to everyone who visited us yesterday for our Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning - we raised a fabulous £79.63 and it was lovely to see so many people, including our friends from stABILITY!

We’ve had a great week this week and in between making lots of cakes we’ve had visits from both Westfield @ Work and Westfield Arts College Sixth Form where we started putting into practice some of our ideas for Sea-SAW, our community cafe.

We’ve also been out and about and visited Weymouth Football Club and a trip to Tout Quarry.

We’ve even managed to finish another one of our Core Units (Food Awareness) and made progress towards our Personal Learning Goals for the term!

A well deserved break this weekend ready for Monday 💪!

🧁☕️ WE’RE ALL READY! 🧁☕️

We’re all set up and ready to welcome you all to our first SAW Event tomorrow at 10am - all in aid of the fantastic Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning!

Please bring along your pennies as we have a range of tempting homemade cakes for you to try. We’ve also got games and activities available (all with a coffee-twist of course) and we will be showing lots of photos on our projector screen of what we’ve been getting up to since we opened.

We’ve had another good week at SAW with lots of new skills learnt and evidence gained for our portfolios, we had a visit to see Julie and the team at Weymouth Pavilion and we even had a try at making some of the old DBCo favourites ready for our first Burger Night (dates and more info to follow soon…)

We’ve had another busy week this week at SAW! Along with making an excellent start to some of our core units we’ve also set ourselves Personal Learning Goals to work on until Christmas, we’ve visited Booker Wholesale and set up a Centre Tuckshop, we’ve visited Weymouth Museum, started our Painting and Decorating with the painting of our new shop, started making plans for the Cafe and Shop with Westfield Sixth Form, been foraging for blackberries and made homemade lasagne for our team lunch - phew!

We also have a date for your diaries - Friday 25 September will be our first event! We’re holding a coffee morning from 10am to 12pm in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Please pop along for a cuppa and one of our homemade cakes and treats!

We’re looking forward to a relaxing weekend before another busy week next week!
