The West Park Hotel in Harrogate with its great decor and ambiance is a lovely venue for a traditional Sunday lunch.

For starters I chose the Prawn & Crayfish Salad, served with Pickled Cucumber, Baby Gem lettuce and Marie Rose Sauce.

For mains - 21 Day Aged Grand Reserve Sirloin of Beef, served with Yorkshire puddings , cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, greens and free flowing proper gravy.

Dessert - Apple & Blackberry crumble served with vanilla ice cream.

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close Sant Angelo’s restaurant on Sunday 25th September 2022.

We have been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years, 13 of them at Sant Angelo’s. We have worked hard to provide authentic, family-focused Italian food at affordable prices for people in Wetherby and beyond.
There have been ups and downs throughout the years, but no time has been as hostile to the survival of small businesses as now. From COVID to Brexit to staff shortages to spiraling gas and electricity prices, with the best will in the world we cannot keep operating in this environment. And so, with great regret, we have decided to close our doors and retire.

We would like to thank our loyal customers and our hard-working staff, especially our Head Chef Oliver Hart who made Sant Angelo’s so much of what it was.

It’s another glorious day in Wetherby.🌞😎🌞•••

Budget meals for under £5

Shaksuka - we made this wonderful dish a lot during lockdown for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
* 1 tbsp olive oil
* 2 red onions, chopped
* 1 red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
* 1 garlic clove, sliced
* small bunch coriander stalks and leaves chopped separately
* 2 cans cherry tomatoes
* 1 tsp caster sugar
* 4 eggs
Method
* STEP 1 Heat the oil in a frying pan that has a lid, then soften the onions, chilli, garlic and coriander stalks for 5 mins until soft. Stir in the tomatoes and sugar, then bubble for 8-10 mins until thick.

* STEP 2 Using the back of a large spoon, make 4 dips in the sauce, then crack an egg into each one. Put a lid on the pan, then cook over a low heat for 6-8 mins, until the eggs are done to your liking. Scatter with the coriander leaves and serve with crusty bread.

Recipes for under £5
Spaghetti 🍝🍝with meatballs

Ingredients -
MEATBALLS 500g lean minced meat.
1 onion chopped finely
1 garlic glove chopped
1 egg
tsp salt
SAUCE
500g passata
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
tsp sugar
tsp salt

For the meatballs:
Add the minced meat, 1 chopped onion, crushed garlic, egg and salt.

Mix the ingredients together with your hands and make them into 16 small ball shapes. Leave them in a fridge while you prep the rest of the dish.

Preheat your oven to 200C. Put your meatballs on a baking tray on some greaseproof paper. Spray the meatballs and bake for around 30 minutes or in till they are cooked through.

For the sauce:
Put the pan on a low heat. Cooked the second onion and add the garlic. Cook for a minute. Stir in the passata with the salt and sugar. Then add the balsamic vinegar with about 150ml of water. Put the lid on and cook in till bubbling. Then turn off the heat.

Once the meatballs are cooked through add them to the sauce. Put the lid back on and simmer on a low heat for about 10 minutes.

At this point put the pasta on to boil and follow the pack instructions.
