Random Cafe - Sustainable Watford

Random Cafe - Sustainable Watford Random Cafe and Community Garden. We are growing fruit and veg and combining it with food destined to be thrown away serving it in our café.

Helping to reduce Watford's carbon footprint Random Cafe is café with a difference. We are diverting food from being thrown away to reduce Watfords carbon footprint. We combine this with the beautiful fruit and veg, we are growing in our garden, to make into delicious meals for you to enjoy.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Every now and then we find ourselves low on volunteers. This time of year, some of our volunteers have started college or full-time employment. We are so happy when this happens and wish them luck in their new adventures, but we are also very sad to lose them.

So we need your help to keep Random Café open. We are especially short of volunteers on a Tuesday for our Shop and Café. Without the extra help, we will be unable to open.

Today is the actual day Random Café celebrates its 9th birthday. Nine years ago, we held our very first pop‑up café at Centrepoint Community Centre — just a small idea with big hopes. What a journey it has been. Thank you to everyone who has shared a cuppa, volunteered their time, donated, supported, and believed in what we’re building together. Here’s to the next chapter.

Nothing says “holiday mode” quite like a good book in your bag. At Random Café, we’re big fans of a summer read, and this year we’re diving into Old God’s Time by Sebastian Barry. If you’re lounging in the garden, heading off on an adventure, or just enjoying a well‑earned pause, why not join us? While we’re away on our two‑week break, let us know if you’re reading along — we love hearing what our community is enjoying.

We’re officially on our summer break! For the next two weeks, the café is taking a little holiday — picture sun hats, cold drinks, and a chance for everyone to unwind. We’ll be back on 1st September, rested, recharged, and excited for everything we have planned for the autumn. Until then, we hope you enjoy a bit of well‑earned relaxation.
