Don’t panic 😬
I’ll be at the Chantry Christmas fair on 21 and 22 November as well as the Spring on Barnsley Road on the 14th. The last ones I’ll be doing this year.
Please pop along.
The Chantry fair with free entry and free parking on the bridge while the fair is open coincides with one at the Hepworth.
Not long to go 😬 hope to see some of you there 🤞🏻👍🏻🥰

Plenty of events in November, including the long-running Christmas market. Now in its tenth year. With some fantastic stalls. We all look forward to it. And always lots of visitors.

Fresh from the kiln this morning three rhubarb leaves.
Two with glaze variations I wanted to investigate - showing the veins more defined and detailed in red or green with clear glaze over the top, along side the original combination which has red underglaze in the veins and then the glossy dark green glaze all over ❤️🤔

The kiln went on at about 4.20am 😴
Still got over an hour to get to 1210C 😳 then will take another 12 hours plus to cool down.
🤞🏻 all will survive. A few new glazing experiments I’m looking forward to seeing 🤞🏻😊

Made another large rhubarb leaf platter - I like the rounded shape of this one. It’s in the conservatory for its final drying time before it’s bisque fired but before then I’m going to glaze a few things to clear some space.
My work table is full of items ready for the final coats of clear glaze and the pots of glaze are ones I might be using for other items. Going to try some new glaze combinations.
I brushed green underglaze all over a small bisqued rhubarb leaf then wiped most of it off when dry, leaving green in the veins. Finally I’ll cover it with 2 coats of clear then fire 🤞🏻I’ve wanted to try this for a while 😊
Hopefully I’ll post the results from the kiln opening next week.

Unfortunately the lovely big rhubarb leaf didn’t survive - it’s cracked at the side 😩 however the positive from this is that it didn’t happen in the glaze fire after I’d applied several layers of glaze 😂
All other items including two smaller leaves have survived 👍🏻😁
My rhubarb has had growth spurt after the rain so I’ll look for suitable leaves and go again🤞🏻👍🏻

I’ve managed to squeeze my latest and biggest rhubarb leaf and other items into the kiln for a bisque firing this morning. Hoping for some sunshine to help get the kiln to 1000C 🤞🏻
Lots of items waiting to be glazed and more will be added when I open the kiln tomorrow morning.
Looking forward to trying some new glaze combinations in the next few weeks.

It’s been a quiet time for ROKware recently but I’ve been busy on the background building up items to both bisque fire and glaze when I get back from Greece.
New glaze combinations to try and also going to be experimenting making different items 🤞🏻
Meanwhile I’ll leave you with a photo of last night’s sunset 🥰

Just a couple of new things from the kiln this weekend.
A gorgeous blue bowl (5” diameter) plain cobalt blue inside and a ‘new to me’ frozen pond glaze combination on the outside. Definitely going to repeat that one ❤️
Then a lovely shell trinket dish using cobalt blue again this time edged with a lovely teal glaze.
The main reason for the glaze firing was to fire two special order birth detail plaques for an amazing little boy 🥰 (always do two or more just in case).

Fairly cool inside out of the sun 😁

It’s going to be a little cooler tomorrow so should be lovely to visit the Pontefract Liquorice Festival and also the Craft Fair which is the Town Hall.
