Whether you’re a seasoned player or you’ve just got a suspicious amount of confidence, everyone’s welcome to take part.

New thing alert!!!!

This summer we’re trying something we’ve wanted to do for a while: live acoustic music every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

Just good musicians, cold drinks, wood-fired pizza and proper country pub atmosphere 🙏🏻

We’re kicking things off this Saturday with James Stretch from 5–7pm, playing acoustic covers from the sixties through to the modern day. Weather looks like it’s warming up too!

Oh well, sod it. Here’s the Summer ’26 Menu anyway.

Plenty to enjoy come rain or shine, and it’s all available from today.

Whether you’re after something spicy, fresh, comforting or gloriously fried, we’ve got you covered. From chilli pesto prawns and cider-steamed moules to homemade sausage rolls, halloumi fries and all your George favourites.

New menu. Same local. Hopefully some decent weather on the way.

And don’t forget, we’ve got lovely live acoustic music this Saturday from 5–7pm in the garden 🎶

We’ve put together a summer programme packed with music, quizzes, questionable backgammon tactics, murder mysteries and, naturally, a healthy amount of beer.

There’s something for everyone, and we’ve still got a few surprises to announce along the way.

Meet Reece.

Thus far he’s managed to avoid all this social media nonsense, but unfortunately the marketing girl says no more.

Most people know him as the landlord of The George. But he’s also a father, husband and employer. And when you’re running a freehouse, you’re not just a landlord either. You’re a plumber, gardener, cook, waiter, event organiser, cleaner, accountant, negotiator, therapist, fire keeper - the list truly does go on!!!

After 9 years at The George, we’re finally putting him in front of the camera for a new series: Last Orders.

Over the coming weeks, Reece will be sharing the highs, the lows and everything in between of what it really takes to keep a village pub alive in 2026.

Expect stories, revelations, strong opinions, chats with locals, behind the scenes chaos, the occasional pint being downed, and probably a few things he wasn’t supposed to say on camera.

Mostly, we hope you’ll learn something.

Or at the very least, be entertained.

After a brief flirtation with summer, the weather appears to have remembered it’s still England.

With rain back on the menu this week, we’ve decided to keep the fires roaring and the pies coming a little longer. It just doesn’t feel right depriving you of proper pub comfort food while you’re still arriving in a waterproof.

The summer menu is ready and waiting in the wings, but we’ll launch it when summer decides to stick around for more than 48 hours. Hopefully next week.

Until then, it’s pies, pints and crackling fires at The George.

Not long to go until our beloved little beer fest!!! We can’t wait to see all of our favourite people (and hopefully some new faces!) from 2pm tomorrow ☀️ don’t forget there’s great food on all day and some proper good new ales. Come and get stuck in down at the local 🙌🏻

Big Bank Holiday Weekend plans incoming!!!!

We are of course bringing the music this bank holiday weekend (hardly surprising at this point). Sunday 24th you can expect loads of ridiculously good food - including roasts, pizza AND BBQ 🍖 - plus a full day of banging live music.

Our dream bank holiday weekend probably looks a bit like this:

Friday night: quiet pints and a hot meal at the pub
Saturday: sunshine, countryside walks and a couple of well-earned ales
Sunday: big Sunday energy at The George, local ales flowing, pizza flying out the oven and plenty of partying
Monday: hair of the dog at the pub because yes… we are OPENNNN 🍻
