THE FACTS: A Timeline of the Rebirth and Closure of Jacks Hill Cafe

To our 13,000 followers, our loyal transport drivers, biking networks, and the local Northamptonshire community:
Following our recent announcement regarding the closure of the physical A5 building, we have seen significant speculation online across local media channels.

To ensure absolute transparency and maintain the record of integrity that our team stands for, the management team wishes to share the exact, chronological facts of the last 12 months:

• 14/09/2025: SpareRyb management team stepped into a completely vacant, non-operational site and commenced an extensive, self-funded structural renovation of the property.

• 25/10/2025: The site successfully reopened to the public. Over the following months, our team rebuilt the customer base, modernized the facilities, and established our highly successful regional automotive and motorcycle events.

• 31/07/2026: The historic operating company, SpareRyb Logistics Ltd, collapsed, leaving the workforce completely redundant and unpaid for their historic hours.

• 31/07/2026: To protect our 32 staff members and keep this historic landmark from going dark, management stepped in immediately, paying all cafe staff wages out of personal funds via structured welfare loans.

• Crucially, the brand-new Jacks Hill Cafe and Truckstop Ltd team was entirely made up of these exact same redundant staff members from the cafe, not the logistics company or its Directors. Despite being owed significant money by the previous collapse, this dedicated team was determined to do the right thing by the community, keeping the site trading seamlessly through weeks of immense pressure.

• August 2026: Following direct consultation with the insolvency handlers, our management was formally authorized by the liquidator to maintain interim trading operations to actively preserve the business's goodwill and asset value for the creditors. The site's freehold landlord approved this caretaker arrangement.

• 04/08/2026: Jacks Hill Cafe and Truckstop Ltd was officially incorporated as a clean, independent entity to run the venue and negotiate the formal purchase of the physical asset pool from the liquidation estate. A purchase price was subsequently agreed with the liquidator's valuation agents.

• 04/09/2026: SpareRyb Logistics Ltd formally entered the final liquidation process.

• 05/09/2026: Continued interim trading under Jacks Hill Cafe and Truckstop Ltd was formally reaffirmed by both the liquidator and the freehold landlord.

• 17/09/2026: The freehold landlord contacted our team offering only a short-term, 6-month occupancy licence, despite knowing our board was preparing to invest a further £100,000 of private capital to bring a major high-voltage National Grid EV supercharging network to the property.

• 27/09/2026: Our board countered with a viable, fully funded 2-year commercial lease proposal to protect our capital investment and secure the grid connection. No formal response was given.

• 30/09/2026: The freehold landlord abruptly arrived on-site and took immediate physical possession of the building. They declined to engage properly with the workforce, and the site was forced to close.

Clarification Regarding Historical Speculation:
For the avoidance of doubt, the former freeholder sold the site completely back during the pandemic in 2020 when the original cafe initially closed. Neither the previous owner nor any associated local crane companies have any involvement or connection to the current property ownership, the building management, or the decision made to close the site.

A Personal Note Regarding Our Extraordinary Staff:
As we look to the future, our absolute priority remains the welfare and financial security of our 32 fantastic staff members. We are aware that the freehold management has indicated a desire to try and reopen the site quickly. If any members of our workforce are approached and offered employment to get the doors open, they do so with our full, unshakeable blessing and complete support.
Our team members must put their household finances and their families first, and we refuse to let anyone face money stress out of loyalty to us. You are the real heart of the cafe, and we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you whatever you decide.

Jacks Hill Cafe and Truckstop Ltd remains entirely intact, debt-free, and legally secure.

Our sole focus this week is the safe, professional extraction of our independent tools, equipment, and third-party client inventory. We thank you all for your overwhelming messages of support. This timeline marks the end of a physical chapter, but the brand, the team, and the journey continue.

❤️ A Heartfelt Thank You & Farewell from Colin and the Jacks Hill Team

To all our incredible customers, commercial drivers, bikers, car clubs, and local community members:

It is with a mixture of deep sadness and immense gratitude that we are announcing that operations at the physical Jacks Hill A5 building have officially come to an end.

Over the last 12 months, our management team and our extraordinary staff poured everything we had into the rebirth of this historic roadside landmark. We set out to build a welcoming, bustling community hub, and thanks to every single one of you who stopped by for a morning break, packed the yard for our summer bike nights, or shared a chat over the counter, we achieved something truly magical together.

Over the recent weeks, we fought with absolutely everything we had to secure a long-term, independent future for the cafe through a Management Buyout.

Our absolute priority was protecting the livelihoods of our 32 fantastic staff members and keeping this landmark alive.

Unfortunately, despite our best efforts to find a commercial agreement, the site's freehold landlord has taken back immediate physical possession of the property, meaning our journey at this location has concluded.

As a result of the closure, all upcoming events scheduled at the current site are cancelled.

While our hearts are heavy today, we refuse to let this moment overshadow the incredible year we shared. We are profoundly grateful for the warmth, the laughter, and the unshakeable loyalty you have shown us. Hosting you all has been the privilege of a lifetime.
To our amazing workforce—Kim, Julie, Lee, Logan, Trigg, Phoeb, Deb’s along with Evie and the fantastic weekend team thank you for your brilliant dedication. You are the real heart of this business, and we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you.

Right now, we are taking some time as a family to catch our breath, support our staff through this transition, and look after each other.

Thank you for making this past year an unforgettable chapter.

With all our love, respect, and deepest thanks,

Colin & The Jacks Hill Management Team
