The River Exe Estuary can feel a little quieter for birds in June mainly because many of the large flocks that visit over autumn and winter have headed elsewhere to breed.
une is more about resident birds raising young, hidden nests in the reeds and saltmarsh, and occasional glimpses of chicks and fledglings rather than huge dramatic flocks.
So while it can seem “quieter”, there’s actually lots happening! Just in a softer, more tucked-away way.
If you spot our swans, or capture one of the more shy birds, then don't forget to tag us and share! We'd love to see what you see 👀
