We know the canal looks tempting...but the UK’s Health Security Agency has issued a RED HEAT ALERT for parts of the South West of England which comes into force from 1am on Wednesday 24 June until 11pm on Thursday 25 June, whilst an Amber Heat Alert is in force currently.

Please help The RNLI save lives this week. Drowning risk increases significantly in this type of hot weather. Although the sea (and canal) is warming up it still feels cold and fresh-water locations can be even colder so cold-water shock remains a real danger.

The hot weather also places extra demand on lifesaving services.

Father's Day is this Sunday, and if you're wondering where to take Dad, we'd love to welcome you to the Turf.

We're fully booked inside but the garden tables are open on a first-come-first-served basis!

Open from 10am–8pm, with plenty of pub favourites on the menu, cold drinks behind the bar and some of the best views in Devon right outside the door.

Bring him for a stroll along the canal, a leisurely lunch, an afternoon in the sunshine or simply a well-earned pint, or coffee, overlooking the water.

After all, dads are usually the ones doing the driving, fixing, carrying and helping. The least they deserve is a decent meal and a pint by the estuary. 🍻

There’s something about this little corner of Devon that people can’t help but come back to. Maybe it’s the journey to get here. Maybe it’s the fresh air and estuary views.
