🍻🌿 GUESS WHO’S BACK… BACK AGAIN! 🌿🍻

Yes, folks, it’s that wonderful time of year again when our homegrown hops make their triumphant return… in liquid form! 🍺

After spending all summer growing happily out on our decking, our beautiful hops were lovingly harvested and whisked off to the clever folk at Magpie Brewery, who’ve worked their magic and turned them into our very own AIR HOPSTESS! ✈️🍻

A delicious 3.4% pale session ale, light, refreshing and with a lovely little tang to it. Perfect for enjoying a pint (or two!) while admiring the very spot where it all began!

Grown on our decking, brewed down the road, and now back where it belongs… in your glass! 🍺

And of course it only seemed fair that the first pint went to our very own Kev, who has spent the summer tending to the hops and making sure they stayed watered and trained, not an easy feat this summer ☀️☀️☀️☀️🥵

A HUGE well done to our fabulous kitchen team on retaining their 5-star Food Hygiene Rating! 👏🎉

Not only do these lads consistently turn out fantastic food, they also work incredibly hard behind the scenes to keep our kitchen spotless, organised and running like a well-oiled machine! 👨‍🍳

It’s not just about what comes out of the kitchen, but the standards maintained behind those doors every single day.

We’re incredibly proud of them and all the hard work that goes into achieving and maintaining those five stars.

🏇 GENTS RACEDAY – SOUTHWELL 🍺
📅 Saturday 3rd October

We’re off to Southwell for their Oktoberfest Meeting, so as well as some great racing, I’m sure there’ll be plenty of interesting sights on offer! 👀🍻😂

We’ve booked a coach which will leave the pub at 3pm and depart the racecourse around 30 minutes after the last race, which should be approximately 9pm.

And because a day at the races is hungry work, once we’re back at the pub the lads in the kitchen will have a curry waiting for you! 🍛

🎟️ Tickets are £45 per person and need to be paid for by 15th September.

Timothy Taylor’s Landlord is our nominated house b**r and a firm favourite on the bar. But being a free house means we also have the lovely luxury of choosing whatever takes our fancy for the other pumps — keeping things fresh, interesting and, most importantly, tasty! 🍻

Just a quick reminder that this Sunday we’re hosting another of our charity quizzes, this time in collaboration with the wonderful Radford Care Group.

They do fantastic work supporting people living with dementia, their families and carers across Nottingham, so we’d love to raise as much as we can for them.

If you fancy putting your general knowledge to the test, having a few drinks with friends and raising money for a brilliant local cause at the same time, come and join us!

🧠 WHO’S READY FOR ANOTHER CHARITY QUIZ? 🧠

Earlier this month, you lovely lot turned out in droves for our Charity Quiz in aid of the British Heart Foundation. ❤️ Every table was taken, the pub was buzzing and the atmosphere was fantastic!

So, when the lovely Eileen approached us about hosting another charity quiz, we didn’t hesitate to say YES! 🙌

This time, Eileen & Friends will be taking over quizmaster duties to raise money for The Radford Care Group — a fantastic Nottingham charity supporting people living with dementia and their carers. 💙

POSTING ON BEHALF OF THE EVENTS COMMITTEE!

Could You Help Us Keep Our Village Events Going? 🎪

If you live in the village — or have friends and family who do — chances are you’ve enjoyed either The Christmas Cracker or The Village Fayre down at The Open Space.

Both events are always great fun and, more importantly, give everyone the chance to come together and enjoy a proper bit of village community spirit. ❤️

Behind the scenes, both events are organised by a small committee who work throughout the year planning, booking entertainment, arranging stalls and generally making sure everything comes together on the day.

And this is where we could do with a little extra help!

We’re looking for a couple of new people to join our merry little band and help spread the load. It really isn’t a huge commitment and mainly involves:

1.⁠ ⁠Attending a meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at The Air Hostess
2.⁠ ⁠Helping with set-up and take-down on the day of the events

That’s it!

If you think you might be interested, have some fresh ideas to bring to the table, or simply fancy getting a little more involved in village life, we’d love to hear from you.

Tuesday 8th - Update for anyone heading our way today.

The A606 Melton Road is closed from Wheatcrofts roundabout to the Shell Petrol station and scheduled to re-open at 7.00pm. We’ll post an update if that time changes or the road reopens before then.

If you’re heading from the Keyworth / Cotgrave direction, the works don’t affect you.

If you’re travelling from the Wheatcrofts direction, you’ll need to take a detour on the A52 towards Morrisons, then take the turn to Tollerton via the airport and Spire hospital.
