Have fun but stay safe in this hot 🔥 scorching weather.

☀️🌡️ HEAT EXHAUSTION vs HEAT STROKE: KNOW THE DIFFERENCE 🚑

With temperatures climbing across the UK, it's important to recognise when someone is struggling with the heat and when it has become a medical emergency.

🟡 Heat Exhaustion can often be treated with rest, cooling down and drinking fluids.

🔴 Heat Stroke is a life-threatening emergency where the body can no longer control its temperature. This requires immediate action and a 999 call.

Key warning signs of heat stroke include:
⚠️ Confusion or unusual behaviour
⚠️ Loss of consciousness
⚠️ Very hot skin and a high temperature
⚠️ Seizures or fits
⚠️ Symptoms that are rapidly getting worse

💧 Keep yourself hydrated.
🌳 Stay in the shade where possible.
👶 Check on children, older relatives and vulnerable neighbours.
🐕 Remember that pets can suffer from the heat too.

Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the signs and first aid advice in the image below. A little knowledge can make a big difference when the sun decides to turn the UK into a giant air fryer! ☀️🍟

📞 If you suspect heat stroke, call 999 immediately.

Stay cool, stay safe, and look out for each other. ❤️🚑
