📚🐑 A Perfect Addition to the Maple Park Book Swap! 🐑📚

A huge thank you to one of our lovely customers who has donated this classic to our growing Book Swap shelf – All Things Wise and Wonderful by James Herriot.

Could there be a more fitting book for North Yorkshire? Set amongst the farms, villages and rolling countryside we know and love, Herriot’s stories have been delighting readers for generations and are a wonderful celebration of life in God’s Own Country.

Our Book Swap is already starting to take shape, and we love seeing books arrive that have such a strong local connection. Whether you’re a lifelong Herriot fan or discovering his stories for the first time, this one is ready and waiting on the shelf.

We’re so excited to be hosting Plates with Purpose at Maple Park Café, working in collaboration with Hambleton Foodshare and Business Bloom Media / The Creative Studio to raise vital funds for local families in need.

David was recently invited to join Nichola Reeder on Over My Dead Poddy, a fantastic podcast that explores conversations around death, grief, funerals, and the people and places that support families through difficult times.

In the latest episode, "Brewing Community Through Grief,” David talks about Maple Park Café, the role the café plays within the setting of Maple Park Crematorium at Maple Park, and the care that goes into supporting families who gather after a funeral.

With the usual honesty and humour, David shares how coffee and cake are unexpectedly helping people talk about grief, build a community, and perhaps even find some hope.

Our cafe owner Dave is very happy to have been invited to speak at this year’s London Coffee Festival, on a panel discussing cafés and community.

He’ll be representing Maple Park Café as part of the discussion:

☕ “More than just a coffee: A spotlight on community”

He will be answering questions about how cafés have become places for people to meet, connect and support one another; something that’s become a huge part of what we try to do at Maple Park Café.

Apparently serving coffee, organising events, running social media and public speaking are all part of running an independent café these days…

Really very proud to be involved.
